TSA agents yelled at her, handcuffed her to a chair, ripped up her ticket...

If you have nothing to hide why obejct?

This is referred to as "cop logic" in the liberty community...

In a very derogatory manner btw...

do you not remember some on the right bringing it up when supporting the Patriot Act?
I was being sarcastic. they were not.

We were just as disgusted with the patriot act then as we are now I assure you.

I was being sarcastic. they were not.

I do.

Funny thing though, I thought it was bullshit then. That at least makes me consistent.

Yes as with you I thought bs then as I do now.
my posting was a reminder to those who used that to support the Patriot Act.
And there was several on the board I was on at the time.

I am also against this strict constitutionalist thing of pushing issues to the absurd on constitutional intrepretation. hence my other sarcastic post above.

You could say that if it is not mentioned in the constitution the govt can have no control over it.
Or so some say when it suits their particular rationalization.

To be honest, I actually think the feds have a legitimate, constitutional, interest in interstate air travel. I wouldn't even have an objection to reasonable searches and passenger screenings on flights. The absurd argument that I agree to give up my rights if I my employer requires me to fly from LA to San Francisco is where I start having issues. Since the TSA is starting to "protect" Amtrack they are even going to loose the semi legitimate argument that I do not have to fly, I can always take the train.

How long before they start screening anyone who travels via any transportation that receives federal funds, including walking down the street? It might sound ridiculous now, but who would have believed that people would be required to walk through an X-Ray machine 10 years ago?

Welcome to Socialist Police-State America.

Yeah, say goodbye to the Facist Police-State of America that started this shit!!!

Isn't it great? I wont be flying anytime soon. What a disaster. I predict the Airlines will be going Bankrupt very soon. Seriously, who wants to fly anymore? They'll be begging for Bailouts in the near future. Just line up like ignorant cattle for your public humiliation. That about sums up our Airports at this point unfortunately. Have a nice flight. :(

Yeah, more Bush bail-out for the airlines. Do you actually Corporate Dick Inc. gives a fuck if you play with their balls or add a page to their airport porn magazine? Those fucks would kill their mother instead of missing a flight.

HEY!!! IF YOU AIN'T DONE NOTHING WRONG, WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF?? WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO HIDE ANYWAY???

I love throwing that back at cons................. :)

In my past, some 20 years back, I used to be screened twice a day. They have one machine that smells various bomb making materials, so you couldn't wear an aftershave or deodorants. Another that did whole body for radiation. Another for metals. And of course they didn't have this new xray machine then. They have devised a device that can see items beyond the human spectrum of colors, so look for that in your future screenings.

The xray is a good thing, as it stops a lot of drugs and other items of interest (diamonds, bomb parts, etc.) from entering America in body balloons, breast implants, hollow legs, etc.

I have a better question.

Why do you think it is a good idea to submit to security screenings that accomplish nothing? The new scanners will not detect explosives concealed in body cavities, nor will they detect the same explosives that the underwear bomber used. The manufacturers and the DHS both admit this.

On top of that, the new pat down technique is specifically designed to harass, and is even more useless at actually finding anything that you might me carrying than the new scanners. Yet you are not only willing to submit just because some random bureaucrat who does not answer to anyone, and who is probably looking forward to an early retirement with a bonus from the companies that make these stupid devices.

The government wants us to believe that no images from these devices are stored, despite the fact that the contract specifies that they can download real time images to a USB in test mode. Why do you believe anything that anyone in the government tells you?

My solution?

Stop letting politicians and fear control our lives.

I have seen one person who posted that argument.

Personally, I would point out that we were pretty safe before 9/11, and that everything that was used in that attack was brought on openly because the rules at the time allowed people to carry box cutters. A simple adjustment that excludes those devices, and others like them, would easily have prevented all of those hijackings. Locking the cockpit doors, and changing SOP to not cooperating with hijackers, adds additional levels of security that compensates for any other potential danger.

Yet you, simply because the government says so, allow people to convince you that you are not safe unless everyone is humiliated and degraded. When are you going to draw the line? When they start requiring cavity searches?

The X-Ray scanners do not penetrate your skin, so they cannot possibly detect anything hidden in body cavities, or breast implants. Keep trying.

No, it does not. Customs X-Rayed him after he landed at JFK. They used a standard X-Ray machine when they did this, not the new backscatter scanners that are being installed.

The 5-foot-11, 210-pound teen was stopped by a Customs and Border Patrol inspector after American Airlines Flight 834 from the Dominican city of Santiago arrived at Kennedy Airport. He agreed to an X-ray of his body, which showed the dozens of sacks of drugs in his stomach, prosecutors said.

You would a lot less like an idiot if you did not insist that other people who understand English do not know how to read.

If you understood english, you'd understand that shintao didn't say any particular scanner went through skin. He said that xrays would see things hidden in body cavities, etc, and you replied "No, it doesn't"

Believe it or not Einstein, but xrays *DO* see things that are hidden in body cavities
