Initially, both Egypt and Israel announced that they had been attacked by the other country. Gideon Rafael, the Israeli Ambassador to the UN, received a message from the Israeli foreign office: "inform immediately the President of the Sec. Co. that Israel is now engaged in repelling Egyptian land and air forces." At 3:10 am, Rafael woke ambassador Hans Tabor, the Danish President of the Security Council for June, with the news that Egyptian forces had "moved against Israel" .[1] and that Israel was responding to a "cowardly and treacherous" attack from Egypt…"[2] At the Security Council meeting of June 5, both Israel and Egypt claimed to be repelling an invasion by the other,[1] and "Israeli officials – Eban and Evron – swore that Egypt had fired first".[3]

On June 5 Egypt, supported by the USSR, charged Israel with aggression. Israel claimed that Egypt had struck first, telling the council that “in the early hours of this morning Egyptian armoured columns moved in an offensive thrust against Israel’s borders. At the same time Egyptian planes took off from airfields in Sinai and struck out towards Israel. Egyptian artillery in the Gaza strip shelled the Israel villages of Kissufim, Nahal-Oz and Ein Hashelosha..." In fact, this was not the case,[4] The US Office of Current Intelligence "...soon concluded that the Israelis – contrary to their claims – had fired first." [5] and it is known the war started by a surprise Israeli attack against Egypt's air forces that left its ground troops vulnerable to further Israeli air strikes.

After Egypt had declared war on Israel, once that declaration was made the war had began. And as the aggressor Egypt started the war, it is just that Israel got the first punch in and destroyed the moral of the arab muslim troops.

At 10:00 am on June 5, the Jordanian Army began shelling Israel. Two batteries of 155mm Long Tom cannons opened fire on the suburbs of Tel Aviv and Ramat David Airbase. The commanders of these batteries were instructed to lay a two-hour barrage against military and civilian settlements in central Israel. Some shells hit the outskirts of Tel Aviv.[80]

Israel assumed that the attacks were a symbolic gesture of solidarity with Egypt, and sent a message to King Hussein promising not to initiate any action against Jordan if it stayed out of the war. King Hussein replied that it was too late, "the die was cast".[81] At 11:15 am, Jordanian howitzers began a 6,000-shell barrage at Israeli Jerusalem. The Jordanians initially targeted kibbutz Ramat Rachel in the south and Mount Scopus in the north, then ranged into the city center and outlying neighborhoods. Military installations, the Prime Minister's Residence, and the Knessetcompound were also targeted. Israeli civilian casualties totalled 20 dead and about 1,000 wounded. Some 900 buildings were damaged, includingHadassah Ein Kerem Hospital.[18]

At 11:50 am, sixteen Jordanian Hawker Hunters attacked Netanya, Kfar Sirkin and Kfar Saba, killing one civilian, wounding seven and destroying a transport plane. Three Iraqi Hawker Hunters strafed civilian settlements in the Jezreel Valley, and an Iraqi Tu-16 attacked Afula, and was shot down near the Megiddo airfield. The attack caused minimal material damage, hitting only a senior citizens' home and several chicken coops, but sixteen Israeli soldiers were killed, most of them when the Tupolev crashed.[18

As was stated that is Egypt, not Jordan.

Israel pleaded with Jordan not to enter the war but they did.

The reason Israel fired on Egypt first was because the arab militaries were amassing on the borders and the arab governments were threatening to destroy Israel.

Israel didn't wait for them to pull the trigger.

However, Jordan attacked Israel first during this war.

you're correct, of course.

Does not alter the fact that Egypt had put in place operation dawn that was only stopped when the Russians said they could not help Egypt if they attacked Israel. It was as close as 1 hour away from Egypt firing the first shot. The Israeli's pre empted another invasion by destroying the Egyptian planes on the ground, thus minimising the loss of life on both sides.

Egypt had already declared war on Israel and that was the first shot fired, Israel were the first to draw blood and the arab muslims did what they do best. They ran for their lives when they realised that they faced a stronger better organised enemy. The closing of the straits and canal to Israeli vessels was another act of war according to the laws at the time and that alone caused a major international incident.

And how come you remove the parts that say that Egypt had made the first move and Israel defended itself from attack ?
From your link

One scholar has referred to Israel’s actions as an act of "interceptive self-defense." According to this view, though no single Egyptian step may have qualified as an armed attack, Egypt’s collective actions that included the closure of the Straits of Tiran, the expulsion of UN peacekeepers, the massive armed deployment along Israel’s borders and her constant saber rattling, made clear that Egypt was bent on armed attack against Israel

Imaging you have two guns pointing at you in you home and you have one. Do you wait till both have fired and possibly kill you , and then they will go after your family, before before firing back, or was their threatening you cause enough to take the first shot? Do you hope you will live long enough to prevent them from killing your loved ones? When you are threatened in you own home, do you even care about the "law" or saving those you care most about?

Israel was being threatened from two fronts after egypt declared war. Israel was out manned and out gunned. Israel knew they were about to attack within hours. Taking out the airfields was a logical move and prevented a genocide. Israel was fighting for it's survival.

It was not just about land but the blood bath of all the jews, and possibly all Israelis, if they failed. After WWII they were not about to let that happen again.

"Israel set them up for a war they wanted to get E. Jerusalem"

What a load of crap. E. Jerusalem was occupied by Jordan at the time. Israel pre emptively struck Egypt, not Jordan. Jordan was the one who attacked Israel first, even after Israel warned them not to.

After Egypt had declared war on Israel, once that declaration was made the war had began. And as the aggressor Egypt started the war, it is just that Israel got the first punch in and destroyed the moral of the arab muslim troops.

Egypt's plan to attack Israel on 27 May[edit]
Caught up in Arab enthusiasm for military action and encouraged by the lack of response to the closure of the Straits, Egyptian Field Marshal Amer planned for initiating an attack on Israel in late May. He told one of his generals that "This time we will be the ones to start the war." This was counter to Nasser's strategy of pushing Israel to start the war. Historian Michael Oren states that Egyptian sources are divided over why Nasser did not veto Amer's plan. Oren suggests that "Nasser was apprised of [the plan] but lacked the political strength to override Amer's order. Also, the preparation of an Egyptian invasion of Israel had certain advantages for Nasser..."[153] The Egyptian attack plan was code-named Operation Dawn, and was planned by General Abdel Hakim Amer. It called for the strategic bombing of Israeli airfields, ports, cities, and the Negev Nuclear Research Center. Arab armies would then invade Israel, and cut it in half with an armored thrust through the Negev

In a lecture given in 2002, Oren said, "Johnson sat around with his advisors and said, ‘What if their intelligence sources are better than ours?’ Johnson decided to fire off a Hotline message to his counterpart in the Kremlin, Alexei Kosygin, in which he said, ‘We've heard from the Israelis, but we can't corroborate it, that your proxies in the Middle East, the Egyptians, plan to launch an attack against Israel in the next 48 hours. If you don't want to start a global crisis, prevent them from doing that.’ At 2:30 a.m. on May 27, Soviet Ambassador to Egypt Dimitri Pojidaev knocked on Nasser's door and read him a personal letter from Kosygin in which he said, ‘We don't want Egypt to be blamed for starting a war in the Middle East. If you launch that attack, we cannot support you.’
According to Oren, Nasser knew that operation Dawn was already set to be launched in only few hours time, at sunrise. His mood soured since he realized that Israel had accessed Egyptian secrets and compromised them. Nasser hurried to an emergency meeting at the headquarters, and told Amer about the exposure of Dawn and asked him to cancel the planned attack.[161] Amer consulted his sources in the Kremlin, and they corroborated the substance of Kosygin's message. Despondent, Amer told the commander of Egypt's air force, Major General Mahmud Sidqi, that the operation was cancelled."[162] The cancellation orders arrived to the pilots when they were already in their planes, awaiting the final go ahead.[

Wow paid Phalanges shill mangling English with an eminent reply...

Too funny.

If that was true why did Egypt commit an act of war by closing the Straits of Tiran and why, oh why did they order UN peacekeeping forces in the Sinai out of the way?
Posturing is not an act of war and History has deemed Israel a starting that war...Israeli actions at the Golan goaded Syria according to Dayan, and PM Begin admitted that Israel's manifest destiny w to conquer Eretz Israel...
Stop kidding yourself...

Of course, you failed to answer either of the obvious questions posed to you, choosing instead to posture.
Israel neither goaded Egypt into their act of war nor into ordering UN "peacekeepers" out of the way ... an order, BTW, with which they quickly complied.
