No, in Europe, the chances are the householder would have said something like, "hey, you've had a bit too much to drink, let's sit down here and talk about it." Or would have locked their door in the first place and called the police. Either way, no-one needed to die.

Ideally, locking the door would have been the best way to deal with it.
