Video: Storm Surge to Roofs, Houses Destroyed by Hurricane Michael in Mexico Beach, FL
Mexico Beach, Florida, took a direct hit Wednesday from Hurricane Michael with houses destroyed and storm surge that went as high as roofs as seen in video posted online. Michael came onshore just shy of Category 5 status with 155 MPH winds and pressure of 919 MB.

Actually I don't feel bad for any of those idiots that built their houses down there on a 100-year floodplain.

There is a reason why they are unable to get standard house insurance.

Whether you believe in global warming or not Insurance actuaries could care less. They're the ones with the real statistics on whether or not it's a good idea to inhabit a given area.

The destruction of that property is a good thing in its own right as are all things that highlight the practicality of darwinian survival mechanics.

Yup. Same thing happened a few years ago when the Mississippi overflowed. People had built houses on that flood plane and watched them float away.

No one but a moron builds on a flood plane because eventually that river will flood.

Same thing down here in Florida. Years ago no one built on the beach because of hurricanes. Today there are apartment building all over the beachs.
