I had to buy a new computer with vista a couple of months ago. Did not like it and switched back to Windows XP after some weeks.
I did not find any real improvements only things they made more complicated then before.

Change is hard for anyone. I always look for newer technology so I couldn't wait for vista. I did the beta testing and all. It had performance problems on my old computer. It was slow. I upgraded the memory to 2gb and it improved very little. I would up buying a new $500.00 machine. Now it is the best operating system I have ever had. Performance is great, visuals are awesome. Never had a Mac but I do database programming and the mac doesn't have access. For Vista to work well you need a bus width to handle all the data vista is sending. My old computer had a 100mzh bus. This one 433. They both had 2gm of memory and a 2.4ghz cpu. Those with good computer skills should have much of a issue with the changes in Vista. Those with intermediate skills may take time to adjust to the new windows explorer, etc.
