It appears that the University of Colorado is going to pay to make the guy go away. Unfortunately the man now has exactly what he wanted, a martyr status among his followers, notoriety, and the willingness of the left to listen to his message now that they have defended him so vehemently. Also, if they choose to buyout this "professor" they will never release the report from the three member panel that was created to investigate all of this "professor's" work, therefore he will never be discredited for his shoddy intellectual dishonesty.

Even today as I heard the reports that he is likely to get $500,000 in a buyout so that they don't have to report on their crappy leadership we find even more plagiarism from Ward Churchill.

Here is an article that lists things for which he should be fired (believe me, it goes way beyond any 1st Amendment rights):

Here is a site (go to the bottom, the "all you need to know" area) where you can find even more information about him.

He also copies the art of others and sells them as his own, as shown on Channel 4 here in Denver. (Also on this site, you can see the pictures of the art he copied: http://sayanythingblog.com/2005/02/25/ward-churchill-artistic-plariarist )

He is also accused of research fraud:

And just today, here is the report of accusations of plagiarism:

Believe me, locally we have learned more about this man than some people who oppose Bush know about Bush.

To buy this guy out will be an exremely large error IMO. It will do nothing to show the nation that the University is planning any sort of introspection on how this guy even got Tenure let alone was allowed to continue in that position while not even writing some of his own papers. His papers were almost always published in a specific magazine that never vetted any of the writing and it was never peer reviewed. This was how he was able to get away with this type of intellectual theft for so long.

Instead of showing the nation and all future prospects to the University that they will insure that Professors at the University are fully vetted and peer reviewed as required, they are buying him out so they don't have to show how their "leadership" has been lacking and point out their own errors in their report of Churchill.

They will not be "able" to release the report on his malfeasance and their conclusion on whether he should have been fired because it will be part of the "agreement" that they cannot talk about him.

He now has the notoriety he has sought all his life but eluded him until finally he made the news, and he will be able to continue telling his followers how he was "wronged" at the University and by the Press without regard to actual evidence of how unfit he was to continue in his position. This is a mistake of large proportions and should have been avoided at all costs by the University.

This is disgusting. Just FIRE his ass. If they go for the buyout it will be worse than having him on their faculty.

Exactly. Sometimes compromise only makes your position weaker. In this case compromise will only help to lessen the respect others hold for people with a degree from this University. They clearly do not vet their "professors" enough nor even require them to publish in peer-reviewed publications. How can this even be called a University?
