Weird story. Impersonator tricks police into gun charge......

"Here’s how the bizarre case unfolded:

The actual suspect was interrogated following a shooting call on July 17, 2022. During that interrogation, the woman lied about her identity, giving the name and date of birth belonging to the innocent woman. She was not arrested that day as the investigation continued.

Later, prosecutors indicted the case using the false name given by the woman during the police interrogation, DeMartino said.

The innocent woman was arrested during a visit to Syracuse and spent a night in jail before her lawyer was able to intervene. DeMartino immediately suspected something was wrong: his client didn’t live in Syracuse anymore and denied talking to police at all."

Wow.

Wow.
Did they get the actual guilty party?

Did they get the actual guilty party?
Not yet... and the article doesn't name the actual person by name, but does name a co- defendant by name... which leads me to believe the don't know her identity as yet.

But they do have video recordings of her interview... which is how they determine the arrested woman was innocent.

Talk about shoddy police work...
