"WE" don't need to do shit. We are not the world's ATM. You feel bad for them, you send your own money. Keep your damn hands out of other people's pockets.
I think this is where you are confused, stupid.
It's going to cost us money regardless. The only question is do we spend smart, or do we spend mean and stupid.
Those who are against immigration rightly complain immigrants put a strain on our health, education, and public services. Okay, this is fair enough. But until we address the reasons why people are fleeing, they are going to keep coming no matter how many Trump tries to deport or how much he wastes on walls that can be easily defeated.
So, my Six point plan for fixing immigration.
1) Create a system of National ID so that identify can be quickly confirmed.
2) Create a guest worker program to address legitimate labor needs, linking it directly to a time limit and seasonal work, if needed.
3) Go after those who are hiring illegals. (No excuses after steps 1 and 2 are taken.)
4) Sufficiently staff immigration courts so that asylum and immigration cases are heard expeditiously.
5) Life economic sanctions on Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua. We should stop trying to punish countries for picking forms of government we don't like, as it only creates refugees.
6) And as stated, created a Marshall Plan for Latin America, to create better economic conditions (and eventually, markets for American products.)
Or we can just wait for the Chinese to do it. They've already displaced us in most of Asia and Africa as the top trading partner merely by helping them build infrastructure.
