Who left the hand grenades in the playpen?

The irresponsible, erratic and sporadic tariffmania that is wreaking havoc with the global economy must be stopped.

Negotiations are happening as we type.

After 90-days or so when the trade wars are settled and the economies are adjusting to the new trade deals, things should get back to a relative norm. What I'm curious about is how much revenue tariffs will rake in, $600b?, $300b? or not much if tariffs are very low.

Trump has two advantages here: First, the economy was still fairly strong going into this circus, and there's been some solid data even recently. So if he can get out of this soon, we can still avoid a recession.

Second, his ugly and cynical "they need us more than we need them" trade policy is still correct, for now. So our former friends and trading partners will have to bend, for now. Of course, now that we've become a predator nation, those former friends and trading partners are establishing new relationships for the future.

None of this had to happen. NONE of it. But it's America Alone now, and I don't know why it has to be that way.

We will probably back down. It's hard to show strength when the rest of the world has you by the balls.

We will end up losing this fight because America is the world's bitch...until we finally smarten up and make some changes to actually help our country.

You have a problem with "reciprocal tariffs"? We don't.

You type stuff with no proof. How about we wait and see what the new trade deals look like.
America was the "world's bitch" with unfair tariffs dumbass. Trump is fixing that.

No they're not. Trump is lying to you. The Chinese are NOT negotiating with the US at all.

All of these countries signed trade deals with Trump the last time he was in office. These deals resulted in a 40% increase in your trade deficits. We're not negotiating new deals with your idiot President to tear up on his next whim, or bad publicity.

China has cancelled trade with the USA. Canada, the EU, and Mexico are boycotting US goods. You don't invite people to negotiatings by slapping tariffs on everything they sell you, unless you're a total moron. Trump is that moron.

Trump can go fuck himself. We're not playing this time.

These aren't "reciprocal tariffs". You don't have the intelligence, education or background to understand the problem.

We DON'T need you more than you need us, that's the part you're about to learn. We have other options. YOU don't.

Were the world's bitch because we let ourselves get into this position. Rather than making our own stuff, we basically offloaded our economy to the rest of the world, and we import damn near everything, which makes us extremely susceptible to tariffs from other countries.

Part of what made america so great and the biggest superpower in the world wasn't just our military, it was also our manufacturing, and building, and oil production. America was stable on their own. That all seemed to change when we shut down our factories and started buying all our goods from overseas.

We NEED to get back to mining our own ore, drilling ALL our own oil, and making our own stuff again.

Trump had to address our trade deficit and our ridiculous trade agreements because, like our current Democrat party, they were unsustainable. Fix them now or melt down within a few years. So it naturally follows that the grownup in the room, the one taking all the heat, is the one that will guide the process to success. I really doubt if there is another person in this country who is capable of taking on what our great President Donald J. Trump is now doing. The future of our free country depends on his success and I'm confident he will be right again.

His more astute enablers are belatedly accepting the irrefutable, grim reality.

GOP donor Ken Griffin suggested the value of the U.S. dollar has significantly deteriorated compared to the euro in the past month under the thumb of Trump’s latest tariff hike on global trading partners.
Griffin, the founder and CEO of Citadel, said the country “has become 20 percent poorer in four weeks” ...
He added that the currency’s deflation amid shifts in economic policy and the president’s latest attack on Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell has jeopardized the nation’s pristine reputation.
“We put that brand at risk,” Griffin told Chon. “It can be a lifetime to repair the damage that has been done.”
The hedge fund manager echoed economists and world leaders who said new tariff measures will produce no winners but instead force all parties involved to “tread water and not drown.”

The Japanese sat down with Trump's negotiators and asked what Trump wanted to lift the tariffs. Trump's people had no answer to the question. They responded "what are you offering".

What kind of moron slaps on a tariff without have a defined goal for what they hope to achieve????

The Japanese are prepared to abide by the deal they signed with Trump in 2019. That's it. That's all they're offering, and they have no interest in re-negotiating.

Trump is a moron.

With who? Not China, according to the Chinese.

Companies from Chipotle to Delta are worried about Trump’s tariffs. Here’s what they’re saying

Depends who you listen to, Chinese media, or US news. Other trade negotiations are proceeding...

On Friday, reports emerged that China quietly rolled back tariffs on some US semiconductors, easing pressure on its tech sector. Bloomberg reported that Beijing is also weighing tariff relief on medical gear and chemicals, lifting hopes for trade de-escalation. In addition, China may exempt US ethane and LPG imports from tariffs if trade talks progress, Goldman Sachs says.

White House says Trump administration has 18 trade proposals 'on paper'

"You have Secretary Bessent, Secretary Lutnick, Ambassador Greer, NEC Director Hassett and Peter Navarro, the entire trade team meeting with 34 countries this week alone," she continued. "We are moving at Trump speed to ensure these deals are made on behalf of the American worker and the American people."
