Really? Some of the later posts here don't seem to back that up, but it could be that I'm misreading them. There is new blood, and I'm wondering why only the old dogs' names were mentioned.

Nope, I lean a bit Dem on a lot of issues but am not one of them either. I just have no respect for neocons and what they stand for, as opposed to conservatives who I agree with less often but are the necessary balance. Neocons pretend to be something they're not (conservative) and to support things they don't (liberty), which makes them immediately suspect IMO.
On the GOP side, I personally like Crist. But since he'll be a newbie in the Senate I doubt he'll run. Pawlenty was wounded by his unfortunate involvement in the Coleman saga. Is there anyone else with the stature?

Jindal. Coburn, Sen. from OK. Gregg, Sen. from NH.

Jindal shot himself in the foot with his poor performance earlier this year, and there's also the unfortunate matter of the You Tube videos of him performing exorcisms. Won't play well with the mainstream. Gregg also shot himself at least in the toe with his footsie on the Commerce position, which could easily be spun on both left and right. Hadn't considered Coburn, would he have enough donor support?

If Obama had run last summer on a platform of how he is governing, he'd have been decimated, even by somebody as pitiful as that fossil McCain. Think of the potshots a Republican candidate could take at Obama throughout any debate if Obama tried to spin himself as a centrist. Oh........it'd be hysterical s0ns..........

Republicans will have it easy against Obama. He can only read off a teleprompter and is incapable of independent thought. By labeling him a muslim and socialist they will be able to scare away mainstream americans.
Even though the economy is reversing and his popularity is in the high 50s, any republican will be able to defeat the guy. All she has to do is remind people that Obama wants to take away your guns, abort babies and let gays move in next door to you.

I agree. But I also have a nagging suspicion that Romney has some skeletons yet to be uncovered. I may be wrong, but I have a hard time believing that someone that drop-dead good looking hasn't been hit on (and accepted) a few offerings from equally drop-dead gorgeous women. Not that that would affect my opinion of his capabilities one iota, however.
