Why do liberals say their healthcare rights are not being met?

You "woke"? Do you think it's okay for one to three graders to have porn in their schools? Can a woman be a man?
No, no and no.

From my perspective the woke thing has turned into an identity politics feeding frenzy. But others disagree. And I don't think we should use the power of the state to resolve these kinds of social issues.

But a culture warrior is a culture warrior, and both sides agree - government should dictate societal norms. It's not enough to simply roll back ill-conceived social engineering policies, trumpsters want revenge. Instead of "Goverment doesn't care about your gender!", they go with "There are officially only two genders!"

You don't want good government, you want revenge.

The US healthcare system is a total scam.

The US federal govt spends MORE per capita on healthcare than the UK govt does, and for that they get the NHS which treats everyone.

For this money, most people get NOTHING.

So you have to buy private insurance.

Before you've even started, you have to pay 15% of all you spend for an insurance company, and this company will actively be looking at ways of not paying for your healthcare. In the UK, they don't need insurance companies.

So, you've now paid 57.5% of healthcare, and you've got nothing. (50% to the govt, 7.5% to insurance companies).

Then you have inflated prices because... they can.
Then you have doctors giving you the more expensive medicine because... they make money from that.
Then you have all sorts of things that mean your health insurance costs a fortune, way more than it should, just so many people can take.

I worked with a guy and his father made money from healthcare. He sold things to hospitals and doctors. And he made loads of money from it. So, there's more money going down the drain.

Before you've even got healthcare, most of what you've spent for your healthcare is going into somebody's pocket for no reason other than because the system leeches off of the people.
Government fucks up everything it touches.

Government fucks up everything it touches.
No, it doesn't.

However it often gets things wrong.

The US govt gets things wrong because the politicians enter a competition where one person in a small area only needs more votes than the other person, and money can buy that. The FPTP system benefits those with money.

The Germans use PR, primarily. Their whole Federal election process costs LESS than one US Senate seat.

I'm sorry your ignorance is getting in the way of this conversation.

If governments did everything wrong, then those governments would COLLAPSE.

Liz Truss, Trump supporter extraordinaire, managed about 40 days in office because she did some things badly, mostly to do with the economy and her attempts at tanking it as soon as possible. If everyone did things badly, then the economy would be constantly tanked. It's not. So, you're wrong.

Agreed. The "government fucks up everything" line is hyperbole. But we limit government to certain functions for a reason. It's not there to "run" society. or provide us with our needs. The government should be dependent on the people, not the other way around.

Plurality voting also rewards fear mongering and "strategic voting" - aka lesser-of-two-evils. It's the worst flaw in our current system and fixing it would move us toward sane government for a change. The two-party shitshow is killing us.

We had a chance to implement RCV it in my state, but Dems killed it.

Yes, collapsing is what eventually happens.

Because they don't know right versus privilege. Or, in this day and age, they don't care.
It's all about the free shit. Democrats have successfully convinced our nation (even most Republicans) that the government is there to take care of us.

How is it “free” when we all pay taxes?
Because the inner conceit of everyone playing that game is that they'll get more back than they pay in. Otherwise, why bother?

Or whine about it. That'll do the trick. If you whine loud enough, big daddy government will take over and solve all your problems!
We pay more in taxes per citizen (and non-citizens who don't pay) and lead in bankruptcy .... and costs per procedure are higher as well.

And the D's wouldn't refund the taxes in tax credits to buy our OWN insurance, and the gop wouldn't give the middle class the tax break OR Obamacare. So here we are.

Yep.

Yep.

Government isn't going to solve this. We've been sold a bill of goods (by both the insurance industry and the government) that tells us we shouldn't have to pay for health care. So, instead of doing the hard work of budgeting for healthcare, like we do with all our other needs, we're all trying to figure out how to get someone else to pay for our healthcare. That can't work.
