This isn’t just a one-off judicial reaction. It represents a seismic shift in how the French legal system—and perhaps the broader public—are beginning to confront the uncomfortable truth about wind energy’s collateral damage. Despite the Green orthodoxy that surrounds renewables, wind turbines kill birds. And not just any birds. In this case, the victim was the breeding male of a golden eagle pair that had nested just three kilometers from the turbine site, a distance well beyond typical disturbance buffers used in wildlife protection. The Blade Stops Here: France Holds Wind Industry Accountable at Last

About time. Unsightly, unreliable and hazardous waste after they are done

They certainly spoil the landscape, and they are fucking so huge you have to drive miles to lose sight of some of them when you're going down the highway.

It is worse than you think

Trump says they cause Windmill Cancer

And we are beginning to see more and more of these eyesores dotting the country: Most of the components are not recyclable and as the turbines wear out after 15-20 years or so, they are often just abandoned.

I took this photo last summer along the highway around The Dalles Oregon.
Notice how small the tractor pulling this wind blade looks, and keep in mind the end of the blade is out of the picture, and also this was just a single blade.

Yep. It generally takes a good size truck pulling a looooooooong trailer to transport a single blade to an average wind turbine. We see these all the time on I-40 all headed west.

Funny. How many birds... hell entire habitats do you think got destroyed during the Exon Valdez disaster, Deepwater Horizon, Chernobyl, etc. etc. in fact want to take a guess how many people get killed on a yearly basis from things like air pollution? I'll tell you millions.
In Europe wind provides 11 percent of power, in some countries it nears 50 percent. And does it WAYYYYYYY cleaner than its alternatives.

Doesn't work here, Texas found that out a few winters ago.
As stated earlier, these windmills have basically a short term life span and
really nowhere to get rid of the monsters.
You want cleaner? How about nuclear? No? :laughing0301:

I count 1 minor and 2 major nuclear disasters in about a 50 year period. 1 Of these made 1000 sq mile of Ukraine unfit for human habitation for hundreds of years. Increasing cancer rates globally for years.

What do you think is easier to get rid of. Windmills or spend fuel rods. Things that stay deadly to humans for tens of thousands of years.

And by the way. Texas found out because it decided that it's power grid should not be winterized.

Okay, I knew you wouldn't go for clean energy.
Let's go with clean coal and fossil fuel. The rest of
the "green energy" is nothing more than redistributing the wealth.
Which, I have a feeling you're all for.

Dreadful things. Hopefully nuclear fusion will make them all redundant.

I'm for clean energy. Clean energy that doesn't jeopardize the coming generations. I notice that you didn't answer the question. Suppose that we don't get any more nuclear accidents. Best case scenario. What do you suggest we do with the tons of highly radioactive... as in for thousands of years radioactive material?

As for "clean coal" and fossil fuel. This causes MILLIONS of deaths each year simply from polution. That's more acceptable to you than wind farms. Why?

And yes, redistributing wealth so the top 1 doesn't have 50 percent of total wealth seems desirable. Why isn't it to you?

Three questions. Answer them please.

How many sq miles of windmills equals 1 nuke plant.

No problemo, Señor. Spent nuclear fuel has many nifty uses...

Depleted uranium, a byproduct of the nuclear fuel cycle, is primarily used in military applications like tank armor and armor-piercing ammunition due to its high density and ability to sharpen on impact. It also finds some use in civilian applications, such as radiation shielding and as ballast. Additionally, depleted uranium can be mixed with recycled plutonium to create mixed oxide fuel (MOX), says the World Nuclear Association.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Military Uses:
  • Armor-Piercing Rounds:
It's used in the tips of tank shells, bullets, and mortar rounds to enhance their penetration capabilities, says the BBC.

  • Aircraft Balance Weights:
Due to its high density, it's used as a balancing weight in aircraft, says the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Civilian Uses:
  • Radiation Shielding: Depleted uranium is used as a shielding material, particularly in industrial radiography and medical settings,.
  • Ballast: It can be used as ballast in various applications, such as sailboat keels.

  • Mixed Oxide Fuel (MOX): Depleted uranium can be mixed with recycled plutonium to create MOX fuel, which can be used in nuclear reactors, says the World Nuclear Association.
