Montana violated a provision in the state constitution guaranteeing citizens a “clean and healthful environment” by declining to consider the climate impacts of fossil fuel projects, a judge ruled Monday in a landmark lawsuit brought by youth climate activists.

“Montana’s (greenhouse gas) emissions and climate change have been proven to be a substantial factor in causing climate impacts to Montana’s environment and harm and injury to the youth plaintiffs,” Lewis and Clark County District Court Judge Kathy Seeley wrote in her ruling.

Well done Montana.

This victory is likely to release a raft of similar cases across the country. Its a welcome response to the rossil fuel sponsored climate denial that blights any disccussion of the issue.

It would be good to see the oil company bosses and their lackeys up on charges as well. they have caused so much damage.

Things are looking up but its so important that a bonehead republican does not win next year.

Why don't you do your part?

Stop using or benefitting from any goods or services that are dependent on fossil fuels.

Don't drive or ride in any motor vehicle, for a start.

Do not buy or use any goods or services that require the use of fossil fuels to manufacture or distribute them.

Don't heat or cool your home.

If fact, stop using your computer to participate on this forum. Fossil fuels were necessary to manufacture your computer, to transport it to you, to generate the power to run your computer; and fossil fuels are also necessary to manufacture and power the computers used to run this forum, and all the Internet infrastructure between it and you.

When you completely give up any use of anything in your life that depends on fossil fuels, then you will have standing to preach to the rest of us about our use of such fuels. Of course, sane people will mock and ridicule the shit out of you for doing so, but at least you'll have standing, which at this point, you do not.

Your extremist ranting isn't necessary. We all need to play a part in dealing with AGW.

Thoughts and prayers won't save us this time. That bunch is already running from the law due to being caught with little boys doing the lord's work.

You're assumption is that AGW is settled science .. which it isn't. It's more theory and thoughts and prayers from the extreme environmental groups / politicians.

If AGW were a thing .. then those advocates / politicians would be leading the charge, and attempting to offset their carbon footprint isn't the answer.

The other assumption is that world socialism is the only cure, with it's implied need for all of us to ruin or standard of living, except for the inner party, of course,

More climate change hysteria.
