Zelensky says war will 'end sooner' with Trump as president

Trump refuses to say what his exit strategy is

His only option to end the war is to cut off aid to Ukraine and give Putin all captured territory

Trump has far more options than you know.

You have underestimated Trump for over 8 years now, and are still doing that.

Theh alread spoke on the phone apparently. Merkel did more damage than Schotlz has. If she doesnt shut down the nuclear power plants Germany would be independent rather than dependent on Russian oil. She had to have been compromised. Then you look at all of the illegals they accepted, most who wint and may never speak German. Low skilled labour that just hurt their own economy
The Germans sanctioned there own Country because they don't know how to say no to the US, they even helped to blow up Nordstream 2, there was no problem with Russian energy to Germany before the US and their EU puppets went on a Russiaphobic rampage, they had cheap reliable gas from Russia, it was a market the US wanted for their LNG transported thousands of miles and much more expensive so the Germans like the cowards they are said ok, now we have factories closing and VW closing plants down, the company could even go out of business , at one time Germans had balls not now.

None of this has renounced Merkels decision to moth ball her reliable nuclear power plants. She was compromised.

Russia has not changed it's tune, they will prosecute the war until Ukraine surrenders ...
Could be. In any case, Zoolinsky made it law in Ukraine not to negociate with Putin so does Russia have a choice? No, no, no, no, don't give me any crap about a political coup.
they had more than one chance to end it when most of Ukraine still existed but they listened to NATO and loco Joe.
True.

Ok

Name some options to end the war that don’t involve Ukraine surrendering Donbas

True.
What has Putin offered to negotiate?
Some of the territory in Donbas
Ukraine joining NATO
Reparations

Too many lives have been lost for Russia to trust ever again anything the Ukrainians or NATO say, look at what happened in Istanbul and Minsk 2, Russia needs to finish them off so this never happens again, we thought after WW2 it never would but look at where we are, Bandera Nazis crawling out of the swamp and German built Panzers in Donbas once again and a Nazi pogrom a few years ago in Odessa with people burned alive, Russia needs to finish it once and for all.

I don't have access to the same information Trump, Zelensky, Putin, and Trump's future cabinet does. It would be a silly exercise in futility and a waste of time and energy to sit here and play "what if" games and imaginary scenarios.

Donald Trump won the election, so let him handle it the way he does. That's what we're going to be paying him for. And being the hardest working man in politics, I trust he will handle it in ways nobody else thought of.

There is much basic information about the war that is obvious

Russia occupies captured territory in Donbas and Crimea
Russia has repeatedly invaded Ukraine and Ukraine needs NATO for security
Russia has destroyed critical infrastructure in Ukraine

Trump won
Time to start revealing his plans

He is doing the same thing he did with healthcare…..claim you have a great plan before election and then have nothing

Well, I think Russia can come to some sort of agreement with Kyev if NATO, Washington, and the EU are kept at bay. Otherwise ...... no.
Russia needs to finish them off so this never happens again
That won't be necessary if (as I wrote in my above comment) those are the steadfast & guaranteed parametres.
... we thought after WW2 it never would but look at where we are, Bandera Nazis crawling out of the swamp
You're right, we never thought .....
... Russia needs to finish it once and for all.
I'm still hoping it won't be necessary. Side-line NATO, reform the EU, develop BRICS, take some notes from the Visegrad Group, and maybe, just maybe the ball will start rolling in the right direction without crushing Ukraine all together.

Well isn't this interesting? Since the election of President Trump, both Russia and Ukraine have changed their tunes about wanting to work out a negotiated settlement and an end to the war in Ukraine. And now it appears that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Zelensky says war will 'end sooner' with Trump as president

"Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he is certain the war with Russia will “end sooner” than it otherwise would have done once Donald Trump becomes US president.

Zelensky said he had a “constructive exchange” with Trump during their phone conversation after his victory in the US presidential election.

He did not say whether Trump had made any demands regarding possible talks with Russia, but said he'd not heard anything from him that was contrary to Ukraine’s position.

Trump has consistently said his priority is to end the war and stop what he says is a drain on US resources, in the form of military aid to Ukraine.

“It is certain that the war will end sooner with the policies of the team that will now lead the White House. This is their approach, their promise to their citizens,” Zelensky said in an interview with the Ukrainian media outlet Suspilne.

He added that Ukraine "must do everything so that this war ends next year, ends through diplomatic means".

The situation on the battlefield is difficult, with Russian forces making advances, Zelensky said.

He said US legislation only allows him to meet with Trump after his inauguration in January.

Trump and Zelensky have long had a tumultuous relationship. Trump was impeached in 2019 over accusations that he pressured Zelensky to dig up damaging information on the Biden family.

Despite years of differences, Trump has insisted he had a very good relationship with Zelensky.

When the pair met in New York in September, Trump said he “learned a lot” from the meeting and said he would get the war "resolved very quickly".

Trump has yet to divulge how he intends to end the war.

His Democratic opponents have accused him of cosying up to Russian President Vladimir Putin and say his approach to the war amounts to surrender for Ukraine that will endanger all of Europe.

But German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who spoke with Trump following his election win, told German media that the incoming US leader had a "more nuanced" position on the war than was commonly assumed.

Scholz told the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper that his call with Trump was “perhaps surprisingly, a very detailed and good conversation”.

Now all we have to do is convince Haliburton and the RINOs and Demwits of Congress to end the war (or should I say, stop lining their pockets) and everything should end peacefully. Are you listening Graham, Pelosi, etc.?

And being the hardest working man in politics, I trust he will handle it in ways nobody else thought of
The sad truth is Ukraine can't stop this war without meeting the most part of Putin's demands. Of course, if some external player isn't going to start fighting on its side.

No one has a magical stick. And a question remains whether the new administration understands this or it will follow through a line of fallacy and misinformation of the previous one's.

Trump just wants it over
Pulling the plug on Ukraine aid will end it
