The war would stop in 24 hours if they harpooned him , and Kyiv, by immediately surrendering , would in all probability save western Ukraine from being taken .
Has that little runt been instructed by his MI6 handler to carry on at all costs , in the hope that the UAF can just about hang on until NATO help arrives?

It's in the opposite. It's to late now for Russia to get back the Crimea which Russia once conquered from the Osman Empire and which the Soviet leader Krushchev gave away to the Ukraine. I guess we will have also to discuss meanwhile about the Oblast Kaliningrad - the former kingdom "Prussia" - where the Russians murdered and/or displaced (=genocided) the original population and we will have perhaps also to discuss about other regions around the Baltic sea and the Black Sea.
I think in general the best will be to deny Russia access to the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea in the future as punishment for this war. This would make the world to a more peaceful place, because for the biggest country of the world with an extremely low average population rate exists not any need to try to conquer neighbors and to be engaged in wars all over the world.
I made by the way here anywhere a little mistake when I calculated Russia lost 600,000 soldiers. This was basing on a confusion of the German words “ausgefallen”("failed") and “gefallen” (="fallen"). My information had been correctly: 600,000 - 120,000 = 480,000 Russian soldiers were wounded and traumatized and were therefore out of action for a longer or shorter period of time. How many of them are forever out of action I do not know. 120,000 Russian soldiers have so far “only” died on their self-made battlefields.

And this is exactly why Russia decided to finish NATO's expansion and push it back to the 1997 borders.
But the Russians see it in the different way. They would prefer to eliminate Germany. And they have nukes to do it, you know.
