Why does 80s music sound so distinct?

I've often thought the same thing.

It just has that good energy about it. Definitely a distinct sound/frequency. Feel good energy...

I listen to an 80s radio station in my car and whenever it comes on the radio and I'm driving, I crank it and people look at me funny. lol. I don't care, though.
