What they don’t get is the right to free speech and free expression is not absolute – the First Amendment does allow government to limit and restrict speech, as long as the limitation is content neutral and narrowly tailored to address a government interest.

For example: time, place, and manner restrictions are lawful when demonstrations pose a threat to public safety.

Hence the hypocrisy of the right – conservatives decry warranted restrictions on rightwing hate speech that would result in imminent lawlessness and violence; yet conservatives support silencing those who protest against Israel’s reckless, irresponsible policies in Gaza because the protesters are perceived to be ‘liberal’ and because of conservatives’ bigoted hostility toward Palestinians.

Conservatives can’t have it both ways.
