1,200 LAX workers expected to strike, preventing family visits over Thanksgiving

Okay, first, please refrain from profaninty. Obama and his supporters using the BS word lately. It get you no where.

Second, when did I saw that this was out of the blue? Also, it's very possible the unions demands were just plain unreasonable. This is why public employee unions should be illegal. They simply are too powerful.

Please refrain from using bad grammar. It offends me and makes it impossible for me to read your posts.

Really? I'm nothing compare to most of the people on here, so it seems. Now, please refute.

Perhaps you are lost. You do know you are posting on USMBs right? This is the Dodge City of MBs ...try to fit in por favor.

This is why public employee unions have got to go...they are too powerful. Tomorrow, tens of thousands of people will likely be unable to visit family over Thanksgiving or heavily delayed due to a strike at Los Angeles Intel. In addition, the strike could cause delays and cancellations all across the transportation network. The employees claim they need more healthcare, but it's just unethical to strike when you work for the only service of your kind in your city, especially when it'll prevent people from seeing family on Thanksgiving. Take a look at the union leaders excuses in an interview today:

The state needs to act and make these strikes illegal.

I guess it depends on one's perspective. You worry about someone missing a meal, they worry about providing health care to their family.

What?

So now the state should interfere with a dispute in private industry?

What are you..a socialist?

They have no health care? Really? IS that the issue?

That's awful!

No healthcare? Wow

Bullshit! None of these threats to strike come out of the blue like you and idiots like you would like the public to believe. There are months of negotiations before it ever comes to that. Stop lying. The airline operators had every opportunity to come to an agreement and somehow it just slipped their minds that the busiest holiday travel day was coming up?

Takes two to tango Sparky.

There is no public employee union involved with this. It's a private sector union.

Also, they're not striking, just protesting. It's not going to cause anyone to miss their flight.

This just in. Not only is this strike unethical, it also is unfair and partially illegal. 52% of employees have voted to kick out the union. In addition, it has been disclosed that the employer has actually been compensating employees $2 Million higher since the union was "kicked out." (Even though they're still acting like they can force employees to strike) The union actually was hindering employee wages!

No one is striking.

The best strategy for a union is to strike when the employer is most vulnerable. Non-union people might think that a union should strike only when it is convenient to the employer and its customer base, but it doesn't work that way.

I am against public employees' unions, and I am also against compulsory union membership (closed shops); however, once established unions have the right to operate in their best interests. I seriously doubt a real strike will take place. It appears that this strike (or whatever it is) is spontaneous and such strikes for economic reasons, including health care benefits, would be illegal. Unions know this.

Shucks why not, were in a recession, about to head over the financial cliff, economic and financial Tsunami building on the horizon, so jack everyone else in the pursuit of greed.

oh and the Teamsters are not?.......

Oh great... More Union thuggery at the Public's expense. Like turning away utility workers during a disaster... I wonder if the Unions think that the public will just forget?

Well, the majority of the employees being forced to skrike don't want to. Also, even if they are getting less healthcare, overall they are getting paid more without this union, so can't they use that money to buy healthcare?

This isn't exactly a private industry, since it gains business by working for PUBLIC airports. Either these strikes should be made illegal, or the airports should terminate all the employees and hire a new company.

Why should healthcare nessarily be an expected thing from employers? I don't know about you, but I'd just prefer they'd pay me more and I could do what I wanted with the money and possibly get a better deal. That's what they're doing in this situation.

Clearly you're either the invisible man, or no one really cares about little things like facts.
