1st Ever USMB Chess Tournament

Or as Kamala would say, "Although I accept the result of this chess tournament, I will never let them take my "power" to play chess.

Whatever the hell that means.

Or, as my pappy would say, "There are two kinds of opponents, those you beat and those that cheat!"

I was for sure that I quoted TNHarley's response too, but don't feel bad guys as I lost as well but it was all in good fun. 😊

Thnx, but why did the beads not work?

How far in did you shove them exactly? Not far enough I see.

Anyhew, good game, you are tough.

And again, another Evans Gambit, only this time accepted!

The more competitive people are the worse it feels to lose, even when in good fun.

The key is not letting it spoil your fun, as I am one of those people who are very competitive.

Just when you think you are good at chess, though, you are almost immediately grounded again by a loss

I think the hardest for me was when I played this kid who was far better than I, even though he had probably not been potty trained yet. He just sat there looking at me like "Are you going to move or what" while I struggled to find moves to keep up with him. The kicker was he pulled out some Tonka trucks when he got bored and periodically looked up at the board to see if I had moved yet, while he destroyed me on the board. It then hits you, "I'm just a chimp".

Chess has a way of humbling you like that.

I keep perspective by knowing that there are masters and grand masters that can wipe the floor of us mere mortals while blindfolded, or while playing a dozen or more of us simultaneously. And they all can easily be beaten by a (stock) fish.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME SET:

XponentialChaos vs. Votto

Congrats to X. I completely gagged up my queen, was thinking 3 moves ahead and completely missed an obvious situation LOL. But I’d imagine it’d be a long shot for me to beat you anyways

Anyone else getting weird messages on the chess site? I got a friend request, challenge, and message from a guy who says he is from here. Called himself im2 or I am too or something like that, and said he is from here. He chided me and said it was racist not to include blacks like him any games. lol

Sounds like IM2 to me. Just ignore him. 🙄
