This is a dagger to the heart of a key chinese industry

The tariff applies to transshipments also

So china cannot ship the panels to Thailand or Cambodia, relabel them as NOT MADE IN CHINA and then sell them in the US

Cry your eyes out Greenies, for you the party is over for cheap panels made in china

Locally, I can verify a huge inventory of solar panels. There are pallets and pallets full of both new panels, and used panels removed from power companies installations.
It's probably going to take awhile for this particular tariff to have an actual effect on prices.

Those things are DEADLY if broken. They have VERY toxic chemicals in them......and if broken or cracked, they can leak into the ground and cause permanent chemical damage to the land.

Just imagine what it will do to people!!!

I'm glad we got ours when we did. But wait; you are going to say something about greenies etc, right?? WRONG. We went solar for one very good reason; the left has so stuffed up our energy grid that I would be paying over $2500 a year for my power bills. So I outlaid about $10000 and received about $4800 subsidy from the gubmint($15000 total). So in FOUR YEARS I would have covered my outlay and as I have a 25 year guarantee I will be NOT paying that extortionate cost every year. So even if I only save $2000 pa over 25 years then that's about $50,000 all up I won't be paying so take out the $10000 up front (paid off my outlay over 4 years) it was a good investment.

So how stuffed up did the lefties make our grid? I was paying about $600 pa max for electricity not that long ago. At one stage we had the cheapest electricity in the Western World.

were your panels made in china along with the inverters?

Probably; I didn't install them or even check. As I said they are guaranteed for 25 years so really checked out the company; they're legit. I had my doubts.

I hope they hold up for you since most solar companies guarantee is not bonded

Japanese and Korean solar panels have a better reputation

As long as they last more than four years I'm in a neutral situation. Plus my son is an electrician and now installs them as part of his business and he's local. I'll check where the stuff is from when I get home from work.

According to the app I've saved $5000 on my bills since installation just over two years ago; for an outlay of $10, 000. As I said; lefties have stuffed up our grid.

Sounds about right.

That ought to help the domestic clean coal industry as these inefficient technologies begin to fail with no replacement parts.

In CA, they are forcing installation on all new residential construction, IIRC. Is that still true? If so, how long will that stock hold out.

I am not sure what they do in California. I do know that a couple years ago some California people moved into my area, and took two loAds of panels back to their family in California. There is a distributor in my area.
Right now 250w panels are 35 bucks used, most are dated mfg 2020. I bought 20 of those last year, Korean made. New they are 70.
An alternative energy store in show low gets 225 for the same panel , new.
New bifacial 395w panels are going for 185 new.
This guy can be found advertising in Craigslist in show low and Flagstaff.
This business has been around for at least 24 years. Recently it was sold.
I don't know how long the 'inventory' will last. But since solar panels really aren't that hard to build, I suspect someone will step up and start making them here.
