China unlikely to blink first... So the f*** what?

Well I'm certainly not going to argue that greed is the driving Factor behind most of the decisions that get made. Like with any other tunnel vision strategy it comes at a cost.

And wouldn't it be nice to have leaders who just did what was good for the country, rather than playing these games?

Remember...........

It's not CHINA Trump is after, it's all the American companies that dumped American made for cheap slave labor and cheap resources so their executives could pocket billions more, while continuting to price gouge their consumers.

Trump is effectively cutting off the price gouging, as well as the cheap garbage these companies produce now.

We FINALLY have a president looking out for THE PEOPLE by saying, "No, you can't have that anymore, it's BAD for you".

Yeah, old news.

It's not Trump doing this, its the companies who use his name and likeness to sell their products.

Before Trump was president, these companies had to PAY to use the Trump name and his likeness.
Now that he's been in public office, they don't have to pay to use his name or likeness anymore.
So now a LOT more of these companies are using his name and likeness to sell their Chinese junk.

Really? Maybe the Orange Shitgibbon needs to look in the mirror.

That's because your local manufacturer has the EPA, OSHA and the department of commerce to support. The regulations are expensive. Additionally we have a minimum wage law here which they do not have in China.

I was looking at farm tractors on Alibaba the other day. A 75 horsepower multifunctional Chinese brand with 5 ft rear wheels and all-wheel drive was remarkably under $10,000 for a brand new one.
Of course with 100% tariff that would jump to 20,000. The John Deere equivalent is about $75,000 without the attachments. So yes I understand what you're saying.
/---/ John Deere has it's own issues with Right to Repair, service, and parts availability.
When a farmer has to harvest and his tractor breaks down, he may have to wait days for the authorized repair guy to show up. The farmer can't repair it himself like in the old days. Crops rot in the field.
There is a cottage industry refurbishing 20 year old tractors and selling them to farmers.

Oh….so Trump is more concerned with making money than following his own directions on China.

He can demand the TRUMP name only be on US goods

Orange man bad! Lol

I think it's a mistake when people get a chip on their shoulder about these things. Trade barrier is a difficult enough to negotiate without hard feelings.
I prefer trade alliances to trade wars

And it's about time too.
Many Chinese sellers have literally forced American sellers off of Amazon and made shopping on the website very very different from what it once was with the scams and the feedback from purchasers being anything but true.

Like I said....................its these companies paying for the use of their names and likenesses.
And for DONALD Trump.........he's been in public office, which makes him "free reign" now.

And with the Trump name now being a historical archetype, theres going to be more companies using and abusing their names for the sake of a buck.

And who is to say that the stuff in the photos isn't all ripoff stuff that was never given permission to be using their names???

Who gives a shit if they blink? Are we finally being reeducated to seeking quality instead of quantity? The last time there was a trade backup the Chinese had to fill warehouses with a bunch of useless crap that sat and rotted in place. The same thing is going to happen again this time unless they find other countries to dump their cheap shit on.

It's already happening..... The auto garages are now calling in vendors that were nearly out of business because of Chinese competition. Snap-on, Mac tools..... And other brand names who have foolishly moved their factories over to China are being pushed aside for American made brands from local toolmakers that don't break when you put pressure on them

Channel lock, Klein tools, Leatherman and numerous others that have been considered too expensive to buy are suddenly within range.
The manufacturers that had the satisfy the EPA and OSHA and the department of commerce are now playing on a level playing Field.

Want to buy a blender that doesn't break the moment you crush ice with it? Stop buying from the companies that have moved their labor over to China and you won't have any problem. It will be easy to spot them now because the prices will go up precipitously on those items. It's highly unlikely that Walmart will swallow that whole tariff they will want to pass it along.

There will be a period of adjustment like with any addiction.... our addiction to cheap goods has not been good for us. There will be those that will cry about it..... Eat your broccoli cupcake..... It's a lot better than that vanilla frosted cake you've been living on for the past 20 years

Jo
If you want to buy an expensive Vitamix blender that is highly rated and made in Ohio... you can. If you want to buy an inexpensive blender for you college kid then go buy an imported one from China. That choice is available to you today. Forcing people who cant afford the expensive blender to pay more for a cheap one and use that money as a tax is unconscionable.

Any cheap shit from China should have to be subject to all of our rules and regulations on labor and environment
