United States Army Master Sgt. Roddie Edmonds. Edmonds is being posthumously recognized with "Righteous Among the Nations" Israel's highest honor for non-Jews who risked their lives to save Jews during World War II. He's the first American serviceman to earn the honor.

JERUSALEM (AP) — The Nazi soldiers made their orders very clear: Jewish American prisoners of war were to be separated from their fellow brothers in arms and sent to an uncertain fate.

But Master Sgt. Roddie Edmonds would have none of that. As the highest-ranking noncommissioned officer held in the German POW camp, he ordered more than 1,000 Americans captives to step forward with him and brazenly pronounced: "We are all Jews here."

What a tremendously brave individual. It's a great honor that his efforts have finally been acknowledged rightfully. His family must be very proud. We are thankful for his selfless service.

Wonderful story, Guno. Thank you.

I believe at the end of the age God is going to have a special crown / commendation for the righteous Gentiles.

Guno, I was reading about Elizabeth Taylor a couple of nights ago and was impressed with her love for the Jewish people and Israel.
Here is what she did -
Elizabeth Taylor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In 1959, she purchased $100,000 worth of Israeli Bonds; her films were subsequently banned by the United Arab Republic.[196] She was also barred from entering Egypt to film Cleopatra in 1962, but the ban was lifted two years later after the Egyptian officials deemed that the film brought positive publicity for the country.[195]Taylor helped to raise money for organizations such as the Jewish National Fund, advocated for the right of Soviet Jews to emigrate to Israel, canceled a visit to the USSR because of its condemnation of Israel due to the Six-Day War, and signed a letter protesting the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 3379 of 1975.[195][196] In 1976, she offered herself as a replacement hostage after more than 100 Israeli civilians were taken hostage in the Entebbe skyjacking.[196] She had a small role in the television film made about the incident, Victory at Entebbe (1976), and narrated Genocide (1981), a documentary about theHolocaust.[196]

______________
She offered herself as a replacement hostage after over 100 Israeli civilians were taken hostage in the Entebbe skyjacking. I commend her bravery for offering herself to take the place of Jewish hostages. She was a true friend to the Jewish people. Later in her life she converted to Judaism because she said it was something she had always wanted to do.

He looks like a kid doesn't he? We forget that they were all pretty much kids back then. All the more reason to admire his courage.
