A Common Sense Gun Control Proposal

I answered your question.
If you don't think that I answered your question, then ask it again in case I missed it.

I do not avoid questions. Please ask it again. thanks.

You claimed gun control laws were useless because they don't always work as intended. I just wanted to know if you felt the same way about all laws that aren't completely effective. At this point. I understand you to say that less than complete effectiveness of a law is a silly reason to want it repealed. Is that correct?
The purpose of child molestation laws is not to prevent it. IT is to punish the person afterwards because no reasonable society can allow that kind of behavior.

That's not really the point. The right wing meme is that gun laws don't prevent gun crime, so there is no need for them. If that is true, then why is that fact not valid across the board?
Laws are a vital part of any civilized society, including ours. Laws are in place to punish crime, not to prevent crime.

Your below quote would lead someone to think you believe differently. Is it your opinion that there could never be any additional laws, just because out current ones don't always stop crime? If not, why would discussing gun laws be silly and ridiculous, and discussing other types of laws wouldn't?

The talk about gun control laws is basically silly and ridiculous.
We have gun laws on the books, and they haven't stopped gun violence yet.
It's been talked about for years now. And, it always ends the same way. No one has the answer, nor the solution. Again, laws enable us to punish crime, and not to stop crime. Laws can't stop crime.

Laws do not prevent crimes. Laws are on the books to punish crimes, not to prevent them.

Of course. laws prevent crimes, to say otherwise is just foolish.

Were it not for laws, I would regularly, instead of occasionally, drive my "enhanced" '66 Goat in excess of 120 mph. I would drive my "enhanced" Hog in excess of 110 mph.

Were it not for laws, I would cheerfully have murdered several people over the course of my lifetime and beaten several others to the point they would have wished I'd have finished the job.

So of course, laws prevent millions of crimes.

Still not a direct answer to two direct questions..
Is it your opinion that there could never be any additional laws, just because out current ones don't always stop crime? If not, why would discussing gun laws be silly and ridiculous, and discussing other types of laws wouldn't?

Cute, and very silly.
NO, I do NOT advocating repealing laws, that would be asinine and stupid as shit.
Laws do NOT prevent crimes, as we all know, or should know. Laws punish crime, not prevent crime.
If laws prevented crime, why do we have the largest prison population in the known world, bar none? If laws prevented crimes, why are our courts flooded with criminal cases? Laws punish crimes, not prevent them.

Questions?

Just foolish.

Because we have a large segment of our population who are "inspired" by "leaders" such as President Barack Hussein Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Eric Holder, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Rev. Al Sharpton, Minister Louis Farrakhan, Father Pfleger, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr., Rev. Jesse Jackson, Jr., King Samir Shabazz, Van Jones, Charlie Rangel, Barbara Boxer, Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee, Andre Carson, Shirley Sherrod….

Each and every one of those "leaders" teaches their followers that the reason that they are failures because they are victims. Because they are victims, they have the right to commit crimes in order to get ahead. Just imagine if each of those "leaders" constantly delivered speeches and conferences preaching the vital importance of being married with a father at home. Inspiring education instead of allowing the thugs to denigrate anyone who works hard and earns good grades. Just imagine!

No, that's NOT my opinion. Those are your words, and not mine. I have never said that there shouldn't be additional laws. Please do not accuse me of saying something that I didn't say. Thanks.

What are the direct questions that I have not answered?

Discussing guns laws has been very common for years now. Remember Columbine? And, after all the talk, over many years now, no one has come up with an answer, nor a solution. The reason that no one has come up with answers or a solution, is because gun laws will not stop gun violence, nor will gun laws keep guns from the hands of citizens.

I have never said anything about not discussing guns laws, and restrict talking about laws to "other". Again, those are your words and not mine.

What are the direct questions that I have not answered?

Actually those are your words.

SONNY CLARK SAID:
The talk about gun control laws is basically silly and ridiculous.
We have gun laws on the books, and they haven't stopped gun violence yet.

A lot of people are saying we should enact "common sense gun laws." I agree.
It is common sense that if something has failed you don't do it again. The Assault Weapons Ban in 1994 was a failure. Crime rates went down after it expired in 2004. There was not a single statistic to show the ban did any good.
The 1968 Gun Control Act is one of the biggest failures of public policy ever. It's aim was to "keep guns out of the hands of criminals." Criminals have even more access to guns today than they did in 1968. Nothing shows any of the licensing, background checks etc of the act have reduced crime. Instead innocent people have been charged for doing innocent things. The recent Supreme Court case on straw purchases is a good point.
In short no gun control proposal has ever worked in real life to lower crime or keep guns out of the hands of criminals. People commonly look at Europe as a model. But we aren't Europeans. The culture is very different and even before Europe had strict gun laws they had far less crime than we do Honduras has very strict laws. Swtizerland very lax ones. Honduras has high crime and Switzerland has low crime. There is no correlation between gun laws and crime.
So common sense dictates that without compelling interest in limiting the constitutional right all these laws should be repealed.
It's impossible to legislate guns out of the hands of those that want guns.
It's impossible legislate crimes off our streets.
It's impossible to legislate and enact laws that can read minds and determine who might go postal at any given minute.

The talk about gun control laws is basically silly and ridiculous.
We have gun laws on the books, and they haven't stopped gun violence yet.
We do background checks, yet they haven't stopped gun violence yet.

Using your logic only, the following is just as valid as your claims. and child molestation laws are a waste.

It's impossible to legislate child molestation out of the hands of those that want to molest children.
It's impossible legislate crimes off our streets.
It's impossible to legislate and enact laws that can read minds and determine who might molest a child at any given minute.

The talk about child molestation laws is basically silly and ridiculous.
We have child molestation laws on the books, and they haven't stopped child molestation yet.
We do background checks for people who will interact with our children, yet they haven't stopped child molestation yet.
Correct. Child molesters are going to molest children, regardless of laws on the books, a proven fact.
We read about abused children all the time. We read about teachers raping students. We read about daycare centers molesting children. We read about foster parents molesting children. We read about Catholic priest molesting altar boys. We read about youth center counselors molesting children. It's very sad, but child molestation is a lot more common than anyone cares to admit.

Laws do not prevent crimes. Laws are on the books to punish crimes, not to prevent them.

So using the logic and spirit of your previous post, you advocate repealing all laws that don't stop the crime they are associated with 100%? If not, why are you specifically opposed to gun laws and not others?
Cute, and very silly.
NO, I do NOT advocating repealing laws, that would be asinine and stupid as shit.
Laws do NOT prevent crimes, as we all know, or should know. Laws punish crime, not prevent crime.
If laws prevented crime, why do we have the largest prison population in the known world, bar none? If laws prevented crimes, why are our courts flooded with criminal cases? Laws punish crimes, not prevent them.
