If this guy "leaked" the video, he will be judged by a jury of his peers accordingly. I haven't even watched the video as I'm not interested in seeing a life taken before my eyes.

He apparently asked his friend to record this confrontation, which was wise in many ways if he was planning to confront this guy. Leaking the video, after he probably viewed it 100 times, was his decision. He is an ex cop so he better be very sure of the facts and how he responded because now all of this has been viewed by millions.

The vast majority of police shootings in Canada are completely justifiable. I can only think of two that made big news and there was outrage, only one went to prison (Toronto cop). It was an odd decision to make when he could have held on to the video for his own defense in the courtroom if needed instead of doing it publicly.

Therein lies the problem. People operating on "hunches" and confronting someone with a shotgun, which I presume was in plain sight, is a recipe for disaster. The guy isn't in a uniform, he doesn't have any mandated authority unless a citizens arrest and that requires him seeing a crime in the act, no?

This is how covert police destroy so many in Canada to pad their resume. "The guy is a bad dude, I just know it". It's this kind of logic that only works in old 70's police movies.

There are plenty of criminals from all walks of life who get away with things, life works both ways, good and bad often go unpunished or unrewarded. You can't presume anything, you have to have the facts, especially if running around with a shotgun.

I heard some post in the comments that there was a struggle for the gun, etc. Maybe there was, I don't know.
