There is an unresolvable paradox. Historical slave cultures have a very scarce economic resource, poor land. However, slaves had many children and large armies of empires.
I think that the solution to this paradox is that the slaves evolved the ability to digest alcohol and turn it into a source of biochemical nutrition for cells.
They could extract alcohol in poor conditions from any waste and from trees, shit and so on.
This is just confirmed by the fact that peoples originating from slave-owning regions have a lot of dehydrogenase enzyme in the liver, which breaks down alcohol.
