America is no longer 'indispensible', and that's bad news for Britain

America is not 'retreating from the world', it is attempting to re-focus on Asia due to the rise of China, and move away from issues in Europe and in the Middle East.

After decades of having free defense on the US taxpayer, Europeans are finding out that Americans don't want to foot the bill anymore (due to the national debt and the massive cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan).

This scares the European politicians, as they will have to find the money to fight their own wars, where before it was a free lunch.

But there are positives as well as negatives to this approach, as if America wants to recover from two major wars, it has to cut down costs somewhere.
