Okay George Phillip, imagine this: You have just been monarch of a nation (we'll make it an imaginary one). You have an enemy people next door. They have made it clear that they will NEVER stop warring against you until you are exterminated and the land your ancestors lived on for 3500 years, is theirs. They will not negotiate or compromise. 2. You can keep them imprisoned for the rest of their natural lives and be a financial burden on you and if your resources are finite, and thus they will eventually starve to death.
3. You can consider flying them far away, but many nations reject them and even if one did accept them, they will simply work their way back to where they were and carry on the fight.
4. You can request that other nations contribute foot and other materials for your prisoners and just maybe, they will. But you can't release them without a solid guarantee that they will not go back to fighting.
5. You can give all of them frontal lobotomies and release them back to their area, thus ensuring that they will no longer be a threat.
6. You could just execute them and solve the problem that way.

Well we can discuss fantasies and simplified idealized scenarios but to imply that this meaningfully represents Israel is really quite desperate.
