Cross country skiing I would guess burns a lot of fat calories. So it may be just the ticket for weight and fat loss.

Not hardly.....No fat bodies in that event.....Better lose you a few pounds.

As for rifles back in the 60s the Soviets took a regular CM-2 "Vostock", thinned it down a bit and called it a IZ-149.

They later had a straight pull called the IZ-144.

Now they use a version of the IZ-7.2 but it's not all "home grown" as they use EU barrels and sights.
