Biden considering "preemptive pardons" for those targeted for revenge

Why would he pardon a dangerous terrorist?
I scratch my head to this day on that one. I think Hillary the co-President and her radical advisers made him do it.

The Left voters scream about the J6 Rioters trying to take over the country and all the damage they did to the Capitol while one of their own, Susan Rosenberg, tried to destroy the whole thing and kill thousands which puts her on the level of 9-11 islamo terrorists. Today, Rosenberg walks free. I think the guy who took Pelosi’s podium and the guy who sat in her office both ought to be free like Rosenberg.

It's a damn shame it has come to this, but it's a good idea.

If this were done, the incoming administration would be able to more fully focus on destroying our critical institutions and leaving millions of Americans in the lurch in the name of its narcissistic, paranoid, authoritarian ideology. This list could get quite long, considering how many people have dared to publicly challenge this person.

Biden White House Is Discussing Preemptive Pardons for Those in Trump’s Crosshairs

The deliberations touch on pardoning those currently in office, elected and appointed, as well as former officials who’ve angered Trump and his loyalists.

Those who could face exposure include such members of Congress’ Jan. 6 Committee as Sen.-elect Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming. Trump has previously said Cheney “should go to Jail along with the rest of the Unselect Committee!” Also mentioned by Biden’s aides for a pardon is Anthony Fauci, the former head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases who became a lightning rod for criticism from the right during the Covid-19 pandemic.
I like it when worthless leftist traitors cry! Trump already bringing on the desired effect!!!

No politician in their right mind would even if they did commit yet to be uncovered crimes, it's tantamount to an admission of guilt and they have voters to answer to; in politics perception is reality.

However, Washington is chock full of soulless bureaucrats, NGO functionaries and other assorted miscreants that would have no qualms about accepting a blanket pardon since they're not answerable to the voters.
Seeing that one must agree to accept a pardon, I agree that it can be portrayed as an admission of guilt.

Preemptive pardons, often issued before an individual is charged with a crime, are subject to the same legal principles as other presidential pardons. While the Constitution grants the president the power to grant pardons for federal offenses, it does not provide explicit guidance on changing or revoking them.

Here are some key points regarding their modification:

1. No Revocation Mechanism: Once a pardon is granted, the president cannot unilaterally revoke it. The pardon stands unless challenged in court or through other legal means.

2. Judicial Review: While the president has the power to pardon, the legality of a pardon can be challenged in federal court. If a court finds a pardon to be unconstitutional, it can nullify it.

3. New Legislation: Congress could theoretically pass laws that define the scope and process of pardons, but this would not directly impact existing pardons unless those laws specify retroactivity.

4. Future Pardons: A future president could issue a new pardon that could potentially supersede or address issues related to a previous pardon, but it would not technically change the original.

5. Political Pressure: Public opinion or political pressure can influence a president's decision to issue pardons or reconsider prior ones, though it does not change the legal status of an existing pardon.

U.S. presidential pardons can vary significantly based on the opinions and influence of American citizens or voters. :)

I would hope Trump would refrain from revenge but, let’s not forget he has been the subject of revenge ever since he took office in 2017. Democrats have used every means possible to go after Trump. They know it which is why you will see pre-emptive pardons on the rose. Not sure about Cheney but Schiff had best get a Pardon given he got caught lying in the first impeachment of Trump ( just one of many revenge tools against Trump) .
Schiff doesn't need a pardon for exposing Trump as the malignant criminal lowlife gangster that he is.

Proud for electing that scumbag for attempting a coup against every person in this Country, based on one of the the biggest lies ever told in history?

Multiple people familiar with the ongoing discussions tell CBS News the president has debated with senior White House aides the possibility of issuing the preemptive pardons, but no specific names have been formally recommended to him. The concept of preemptive pardons, and names of people who could benefit from them, have been more rigorously discussed among administration officials expected to help Mr. Biden make final determinations, a group that includes White House Chief of Staff Jeffrey Zients and White House Counsel Ed Siskel.

Among those who could be eligible for preemptive legal relief include well-known names at the center of many of the most rancorous moments of the first Trump administration, many of whom remain the subject of his public ire.

The list includes Dr. Anthony Fauci, who helped coordinate the nation's COVID-19 response and later served as Mr. Biden's top science adviser; retired Gen. Mark A. Milley, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who has called Trump a "fascist" and provided information for several books and news reports detailing the former president's behavior and activities around the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol; California Democratic Senator-elect Adam Schiff, and other Democratic and Republican lawmakers who led the two impeachment cases against Trump or sat on the House committee that reviewed the Jan. 6 attack — a group that includes former Wyoming Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney, who actively campaigned against Trump this past fall.

It’s the dumbest idea and can only come from a dementia patient

A pardon is relief from a crime

A sane person cannot say he’s going to “pardon” anyone who has not been charged with anything!

If someone from the Forward Party receives one of these imaginary prospective “pardons” from our non compos mentis POTUS can’t they then go and rob a bank and vote millions of times?

Don’t you see how absurd this is?

This may have to be settled by the Supreme Court.

Or by public opinion; imagine a scenario where a blanket pardon is issued to someone who is later discovered to have committed egregious crime(s) that are covered under said blanket pardon e.g. "Our Ex-President unknowingly pardoned Joe Blow that has been sex trafficking minors across state lines", under such a scenario I believe the public backlash would be unprecedented.

Heck could be Hunter Biden, who knows what crimes he's been committing over the last 11 years that may yet be uncovered.

well hell, if trumobhad known that, he could have pardoned a whole lot of people preemptively and just avoided their lawsuits altogether. He can do that this round as well, just issue a blanket pardon for anyone in his administration and anyone connected to it, and the dems will never be able to do anything about it.

The truth is, I think if he did that, it would end up in Supreme Court, because you can't blanket pardon people for crimes they haven't been charged with. The power of pardon if for people who have been unjustly convicted.

The truth is, most of what happened to trump is lawfare, and people out to get trump because he's...trump. Much of it can be considered election interference, which, if pardoned, then you are suggesting that people can engage in election interference and get away with if.

But, if he does this, then you just opened the flood gates for future president's to do the same, and they negate most of the lawsuits against trump.
