Muscovite Foreign Ministry, however, came the first explicit warning of military “confrontation”. We could be just weeks away from the most dangerous conflict on European soil since 1945....In the Donbas region, where a proxy war between Moscow and Kyiv has simmered since 2014, at least 14,000 have already died. A full-scale war between Muscovy and Ukraine would inflict casualties of a different order of magnitude....
...the Grand Princes of Kyiv (Kiev in the Moscow transliteration) ruled over a vast territory that stretched from the Arctic to the Black Sea. "Russian" nationalists, of whom Putin is one, trace the lineage of Muscovy,

Whether or not Nato acquiesces in Putin’s imperialist project, we risk being helpless spectators of the dismemberment of a European country of 44 million people. The consequences for world peace are unthinkable — but we must think about them all the same. In order to avoid war in Ukraine, we must confront Putin ’ s imperialist project. To do that, we must first understand it.

"Let us begin with this evident fact: Muscovy does not belong at all to Europe, but to Asia. It follows that judging Muscovy and the Muscovites by our European standards is a mistake to be avoided."—gonzague de reynold, 19501 In methodological terms, one should de-Europeanise any analysis of Muscovy policy.— thomas gomart, 20062

Biden's hands are figuratively tied.

Western Europe, because of disastrous energy policies to satisfy the "Greens" in various countries, is vitally dependent on Russian natural gas. Putin can, with the figurative flick of a switch, bring Europe into horrific turmoil by stopping the flow (and the expected future flow) of natural gas. It would bring Germany to its knees, especially during Winter.

So Our Beloved President cannot even rattle his sword at Russia, because he knows that NONE of our European allies would dare take up arms against Russia, regardless of what it does w/r/t Ukraine, or any other of Putin's targets. We would be ALL ALONE, fighting for the interests of Ukraine, which is not even a NATO member. Our European allies would fall back on their limited commitment to oppose attacks on MEMBERS, not countries that would like to be members.

How far should Biden go to fight someone else's battles? When their closest neighbors won't even pitch in to help?

The "solution" is to harness American resources and sell American LNG to Western Europe. Every dollar's worth of gas sold to Europe is a dollar out of Putin's pockets. Why we have not done this already is a mystery worth pursuing. It has been an obvious strategy for at least the past decade.

Armageddon?

Not hardly, the Soviet Russian Bear just wants it's cub back.

Tater is more concerned about his 10% from the corrupt officials there than any talk of Armageddon.

Not that he can't get the same deal from Putin but he knows he does not have the time left to wait so he will try to gin-up a war to get his poll number back-up.
