...Karma is a Sanskrit word that means action. It is associated with cause and effect and the fact that each individual is constantly meeting the consequences of her or his previous choices. Although the workings of karma are repeatedly illustrated in scripture, generally most students of the bible overlook or simply don't recognize the information as being applicable to the law of karma. However, phrases such as, "Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God...Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee" (Ezekiel 28:13, 15);...with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again," (Matthew 7:2, Mark 4:24, Luke 6:3) and, Jesus' statement that "...all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword"(Matthew 26:52) for example, are just a few of the many biblical examples that clearly describe the consequential activity of karmic law.
Sometimes individuals who are new to the law of karma and the process in which reincarnation works may protest that these concepts appear to mitigate the divine gift of free will; actually, however, the reverse is true. Without karma and reincarnation, the inequities of life seem to become the ultimate responsibility of the creator and freewill is only ours in attempting to deal with what God has apparently randomly bestowed upon us. At the very least, this short-sighted understanding would suggest that free will is not all that free, and ultimately it would indicate that a fair and all-loving creator is not as fair and all-loving as would hope him to be.

This is a few paragraphs from a book I'm reading called, EDGAR CAYCE ON REINCARNATION AND FAMILY KARMA. I like the way it ties the science of "cause and effect" with the Karma and reincarnation of Buddhism, and the "reap what you sow" of Christianity.
