Focus On The Family: Gays Are Blaming Christians For Their Own Emotional And Psychological Pain

On the most recent "CitizenLink Report" from Focus on the Family, Stuart Shepard and Bruce Hausknecht defended the recently vetoed legal discrimination bill in Arizona as nothing more than "an otherwise ordinary bill" that was badly misrepresented by gay activists.

As Shepard explained, the push for gay rights will not stop until Christian are compelled to celebrate same-sex marriages under the force of law and Hausknecht agreed, saying that what gay activists ultimately seek is the "coerced acceptance of all of their actions, behaviors, and whatnot."

"That's the direction the country is headed," Hausknecht declared. "It's a sad story to actually have to tell people."

It must be true. I mean, look what happened when the courts forced integration. Whites were forced to marry blacks. Churches were forced to accept black parishioners. They were also forced to perform inter-racial marriages....all those "special" rights given to black people.

Homophobes Might Be Hidden Homosexuals - Scientific American

Homophobes should consider a little self-reflection, suggests a new study finding those individuals who are most hostile toward gays and hold strong anti-gay views may themselves have same-sex desires, albeit undercover ones.

The prejudice of homophobia may also stem from authoritarian parents, particularly those with homophobic views as well, the researchers added.

You guys are really obsessed with homosexuality.

There is more to life than sex, despite the fact that it's how life is created.

A study published in the August 1996 issue of the Journal of Abnormal Psychology does bear that out. Some of the most vocal anti-gays are themselves closeted homosexuals, turning their self hatred toward others.

This was one of the rare occasions I was embarassed to be 'kinda liberal.' The bill was completely misrepresented in such a boldface lying sorta way I wanted to crawl into a hole and hide. Having read it myself, everytime someone said how it provided the faithful the ability to exclude homosexuals, or something about homosexuals I wanted to scream.

The word 'homosexual' didn't appear in the bill, nor anything even remotely about it. It was purely about the freedom of religion. The worrisome part, to me, was the line about how the exemption of patronage could be exercised even if the objection wasn't formally a part of the given religion.

Numerous studies have born this out.

It does seem to be that way from so many front organizations and “activists” I am not saying a majority of gays care nearly as much, but the political ones are getting everyone to stand up and fall in line, so it seems.

All it takes is one difference of opinion on any sub-level and you are labeled a homophobe. That plays well with the activist agenda and the news and entertainment medias.

Now a scientific study is telling us we are closet bi-sexuals, not just homophobes?

For me, I feel for those who really cannot get away from their “gayness.” It’s a tough cross to bear and I believe God will be more merciful in many ways. But on the other hand, I do not think God wants society to promote it as perfectly fine. Accept it, allow the rights as fellow human beings, but don’t ask me or my school to tell the grade school kids “Gay is a perfectly fine thing to be.” These are moral issues.

It is why I don't post more and why you can't attract more users. It is filled with this garbage.

I find this place filled with nonsense posts once I get here.

You don't get away from your "gayness". You can hide it, but it's still there. It is a part of your personality; that is it's part of who you are as a person.

It is rare to find anyone who is completely Homosexual or Heterosexual. Most people have traits of both sexual orientation. For a person at either end of the Heterosexual–Homosexual Rating Scale, change in sexual orientation is nearly impossible and suppression of sexuality can cause severe psychological problems.

If one denies marriage equality under the 14th, yeah, guess what: we have a homophobe.

It was the same type of crap with civil rights.

Never again, hetero-fascists, never again.

I still suspect there were quite a few who were able to live satisfactory heterosexual married lives in centuries past even if they had some "gayness" in them. Like you intimated, most of us have proclivities for both to some degrees, and no doubt to some other fetishes as well. Do we have to champion those other fetishes and if we don't we are subjecting these people to a life of oppression?

I just think our culture, our media, etc. all have made sexual experimentation and especially homosexuality and bisexuality to be as normal as pie. So no doubt many now experiment with impunity and no doubt more will gladly go that route. In the past, moral codes and culture attitudes and even the grace of one praying may have kept many from expressing this inner idea, and some, if not a majority, of those people may have benefited from that result? This becomes very complicated. But having said all that, when hot chicks "hook up" for one night of fun, I doubt there is one gay gene between them. I just think sexual experimentation and kinkiness causes the excitement alone.

People that are more heterosexual than homosexual can and do have successful traditional marriages and families. However, the choice of a spouse should always be with the individual, not the state.

Sexual taboos were not born out of religion but rather the sociological needs of society. Homosexuality was seen as a deterrent to the perpetuation of the blood line, growth of a religious sect, and population of the state. Today with the population of the earth approaching 8 billion, 1.2 billion living in extreme poverty and hunger, and economist wondering how we be able to create the jobs needed by the next generation, population growth is not seen as desirable in many countries. Thus homosexuality is not seen as the threat it once was.

Same sex marriage does no harm to society and it is wrong to ask the state to make and enforce laws that limit personal freedom to support a religious belief. I think for this reason the courts will eventually strike down all bands to same sex marriage just as they struck down bans that forbid mixed race marriages.

The myth of the Christian conservative - Notes & Errata by Mark Morford

I often wonder, given sufficient whisky and irony and time: Has there ever been a more delightfully inept, wince-inducing oxymoron in the tortured American lexicon than “conservative Christian?”

I am almost completely serious. I stumble across this strangled term frequently in the media world, usually in reference to this or that corporate executive, pinched titan of industry or misguided political movement, and every single time I feel a strange twitch shoot from my brainstem down to my soul, a sudden seizure of meaning as the phrase falls back and implodes into itself, like a confused little star that thinks it’s an enormous sun but is really just a speck of flaming space dust.

I’m over at Mother Jones, reading of the vast ugliness that is the family DeVos, a wonderfully power-mad, union-hating clan of exceedingly rich (keyword: Amway), exceedingly white Republican males over in Michigan, rivaling the Koch brothers and Coors clan for title of Most Despising of Everything You Love. Hey, for the .0001 percent, it’s a very popular competition indeed.

church

Like most of the super-rich, they are men (and a few women) who think they know something of the world, of culture, of God and heroic success, but instead appear to only know greed and money and empire and patriarchy and a certain cold-blooded detestation of anything free-thinking, independent-minded, progressive, humble or compassionate. Do you know the type? Of course you do.

From Reagan to Bush 41, Bush 43 to Mitt, union-busting to anti-choicism, antediluvian “family values” advocacy to pro-corporate think tanks, Blackwater to the unutterably silly Left Behind books, this is the kind of power-hungry billionaire clan that has its tentacles in every right-wing movement, cause and devious conservative ploy since the early ‘60s.

The patriarch, Richard DeVos, Sr. – a man who, I imagine, genuinely loves his family, enjoys a good, hot bath and fears death every second of every day – calls himself a conservative Christian, as do the rest of his family, his company and their entire ethos and position in the world. The phrase pops up repeatedly, like a rash. And it’s always just a little bit hilarious.
