Problem is - if a city is nice to it's homeless, then word gets around, and homeless from the whole country descend on the city.

Cities All Over America Are Becoming Extremely Cruel To The Homeless | InvestmentWatch

May 14th, 2014

Have you ever given food to a homeless person? Well, if you do it again in the future it might be a criminal act depending on where you live. Right now, there are dozens of major U.S. cities that have already passed laws against feeding the homeless. As you will read about below, in some areas of the country you can actually be fined hundreds of dollars for just trying to give food to a hungry person. I know that sounds absolutely insane, but this is what America is turning into. Communities all over the country are attempting to “clean up the streets” by making it virtually illegal to either be homeless or to help those that are homeless. Instead of spending more money on programs to assist the homeless, local governments are bulldozing tent cities and giving homeless people one way bus tickets out of town. We are treating some of the most vulnerable members of our society like human garbage, and it is a national disgrace.

A retired couple down in Florida named Debbie and Chico Jimenez wanted to do something positive for their community during their retirement years, so they started feeding the homeless in Daytona Beach. But recently the police decided to crack down on their feeding program and slapped everyone involved with a $373 fine…

Sadly, more than 50 major cities have passed laws against feeding the homeless at this point. It appears that “cleaning up the streets” has become a big point of emphasis all over the nation.

And what the city of Camden, New Jersey just did is even worse than what happened in Daytona Beach.

Camden just bulldozed an entire tent city and dumped all of the belongings of the homeless people living there into the trash…

Just review the laws protecting the homeless and the restrictions on feeding them. Does that food meet federal guidelines? Is it healthy? What's the salt content?

Those are the reasons for the sudden halt in feeding programs.

Salt content?? HAHAHA. The officials don't care about that.

I gave the reason. Cities don't want citizens feeding and sheltering the homeless cause that attracts bums from all over.

I remember years back when we were all told, that millions of us were one paycheck way from being homeless. Back then, most of us fell for this line, and we mostly viewed the homeless as people like us, who through no fault of their own, became homeless.

As the years have went by, it has become clear to everyone now who the homeless walking their streets really are. They are ALL either mentally ill, addicted to drugs or alcohol, or a combination of the above.

Because of this, we simply do not tolerate them as we once did, and that lack of tolerance is now showing up in ordinances like this story talks about.

It is the weirdest thing. Cites run by liberals do not want the homeless to be fed.

It is only a matter of time before they will be neutered.

That might be true. The reason given is that there is no way to tell if the food meets federal guide lines.

I think a lot of them or more or less normal but just lazy. They prefer begging to work. We live in a country where welfare is viewed as a career so why not begging.?

Interesting article in the paper today:
San Francisco passes law allowing forced treatment of mentally ill | Reuters

Perhaps communities should adopt a similar program for dealing with people who are mentally ill AND homeless?
