No surprise here. Detroit is on the verge of bankruptcy, and the labor unions don't care.

Here is an excerpt of the story and the link:

The story of Detroit's decline is decades old: Its tax revenue and population have shrunk and labor costs have remained out of whack. But the city's budget problems have deepened to such an extent that it could run out of cash in a matter of weeks or months and ultimately be forced into what would be the largest-ever Chapter 9 municipal bankruptcy filing in the United States.

Frustrated by the lack of concrete progress, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, a Republican, last month appointed a team to scour the city's books. The audit could result in a state takeover of Detroit's finances through the appointment of an emergency financial manager. Such a manager, who would seize control of the city's checkbook, could then propose federal bankruptcy court as the best option.

Snyder, who has called the situation "a crisis in terms of financial affairs," said the team would deliver its report in February.

"Detroit is teetering on the verge of bankruptcy after the City Council has failed to make the necessary cuts to deal with having a smaller population," said Rick Jones, chairman of the Republican majority caucus in the state Senate.

What about Chicago or Kiladelphia, formerly Philadelphia? Let them go bankrupt. Better yet, take all those illegals who will soon get amnesty and put them in these failed cities.

Detroit is "Most Dangerous City in America" for fourth year in a row, Forbes report says - Crimesider - CBS News

Not a shocker, 4th year in a row it's been named the most dangerous city in America. They have 100% far-leftist in the pocket Democratic leadership!

I'm sure it's just a coincidence that Detroit's population is 83% black, and the Detroit city government has been so CORRUPT for so many decades, that city officials in Chicago say, "Man, Detroit is really corrupt!".

Detroit CAN become another Compton. They just need a little help.

Detroit has some areas downtown that are great. I had high hopes for Detroit when the three casinos opened, and when they built the new baseball park and football stadium.

But, the corruption always gets in the way of progress. Kwame Kilpatrick (former mayor disgraced by scandal and corruption) set Detroit back 20 years.

We had one of those.... Edwin Edwards.

Did you see. Kilpatrick was just arrested again.

Detroit is going into bankruptcy, they might be able to push that date out for awhile, but it's gonna happen. I'm hearing reports that Chicago thinks they might get a bailout from Washington, in some way connected to the ACA. If so, Detroit will be right there with their hand out too. There are many in both places who ac tually are expecting that to happen after they supported Obama in the last 2 elections.

The only 2 questions for Detroit though, is when the bankruptcy is formally declared and what they do about it. They may go through a court process where a judge or judges will make decisions over contracts and other legalities, or whether Gov Snyder appoints an Emergency Manager to do it instead, which would really politicize the whole thing to another level. IMHO, the gov should let the courts do their thing rather than gettng involved.

Better yet...
When Rahm Emanuel is done with Chicago he can go over to Detroit.

Actually Rahm is doing some pretty good thing fiscally! He has taken on the CPA and won some battles. It is getting them more fiscally sound.

Sell Detroit to Windsor, Ontario, Canada (across the river from Detroit), and the city of Windsor can turn Detroit into a LANDFILL.

At least then, Detroit will be USEFUL.
