Cuba To Cut 500,000 Government Workers, Reduce Restrictions On Private Enterprise

Cuba To Cut 500,000 Government Workers, Reduce Restrictions On Private Enterprise

Eventually the state will only employ people in "indispensable" areas such as farming, construction, industry, law enforcement and education.

To soften the blow, the statement – which appeared in state newspapers and was read on television and radio – said the government would increase private-sector job opportunities, including allowing more Cubans to become self-employed.

Castro has long complained that Cubans expect too much from the government, which pays average monthly salaries of just $20 but also provides free education and health care and heavily subsidizes housing, transportation and basic food. Because unemployment is anathema in a communist society, state businesses have been forced to carry many people who do almost nothing.

"Our state cannot and should not continue supporting businesses, production entities and services with inflated payrolls, and losses that hurt our economy are ultimately counterproductive, creating bad habits and distorting worker conduct," the union said.

But what does Obama want to do that he evidently doesn't understand as well as Cuba's Castro NOW understands???

That cookie cutter one size fits all can NEVER be managed by a central committee sitting in cubicles in Washington!

For example Cuba is NOW recognizing the INDIVIDUALITY of people is what CREATES jobs, opportunities.. NOT making everyone
conform to standards that are stupid for 50 states of different geographically and beliefs and motivations!

Why in heavens name in open spaces WAY open spaces in Texas where the population density is less the one person per mile
why are the speed limits the same there as in the state of New York?
Demographics of Texas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Do you people UNDERSTAND that Obama's conformity, Central planning style agenda IS CLICHED! Is out of date!
IS NOT working as exemplified by CUBA!!!

Texas's population density is more like 98 people per square mile...but ok.

And speed limits are set as a safety standard based on reaction time and the ability of the vehicle's braking system....not by how much land you have.

sheeeesh

In SOME areas of Texas, the population density is one per sq mile, not everywhere. :cuckoo:

And why are the speed limits the same today as they were back in the 1960s when Drum Brakes were the norm, an overdrive transmission was a European oddity, a suspension was considered leaf springs front and back, handling was an unknown even on 'sports cars', tires were supposed to be black, round and cheap with the first two things optional, the shock absorbers might very well have come off an 1875 model stagecoach, the padded dash was to keep you from skinning your knees as you went through the windhield and airbags were but a dream?

Well thought-out response and totally typical

The Obama administration and the Cuban government have absolutely nothing in common.

Most of us learned this decades ago. However, there are always those who are extremely slow to catch on...or never do. Like the poster above.

Here pay attention to the density map and tell me there are NOT counties in Texas with less then 1 person per mile!!!

the Stuttering Clusterfuck is worse.

Castro merely substituted one oppressive, totalitarian government for another.

the Stuttering Clusterfuck is trying to turn the most free Country the Planet has ever known into a totalitarian regime.
