Daily Beast: Green Beret killed by SEALs after he uncovered alleged theft

I don't buy it but the SEALS seems to be a Hollywood invention rather than a viable Military weapon. The hit movie based on the book "Sole Survivor" is about a grossly failed mission. In the book Marcus Luttrell muses why Seals are in a patrol at ten thousand feet in the Afghan mountains. Well yeah, except for the dirty little secret that the SEALS are the muscle of the CIA which doesn't know any more about the Afghan mountains than Luttrell does. It took Army Rangers to finally rescue Luttrell after the disaster of the SEAL mission. The point is that SEALS have a mission that they have been trained for since they were UDT. Seals showed that they have what it takes when they rescued Capt. Phillips on the high seas. They have no business sniping from a rooftop in Iraq or leading a patrol in the Afghan mountains.

USMC RECON is where the job that can not be done gets done....We train the Seals.

Yeah Rammit but you dimwits can't even captain your own boat. The USN has to take you and drop you off so you can go get blown up by land mines so they can send the Rangers and K9 in and do the job. It's hard to get a good dog. Marines are a dime a dozen.
Good inventory for Wackenhut ! I'm sorry G4S Inc these daze.. Sounds really important !

Read Luttrell's book. The SEAL basic training program is based on paddling rubber boats while unconscious from lack of sleep and the ability to withstand hypothermia. Other than that SEALS receive the same elite training in firearms and other skills as Marine Recon and Army Rangers. You have to ask yourself why the Army and Marine infantry units would need a Sailor to snipe off a rooftop in Iraq and/or Afghanistan. Not only does it skew the chain of command but it affects morale. Luttrell spilled the dirty little secret in his in his book when he claimed "SEALS won't be housed with any other military units because they might spill secrets in their sleep". What secrets? Does anybody except SEALS believe that crap? The SEAL mission has been appropriated by the CIA and the leadership is fine with that concept. Here we had U.S. Navy personnel in Afghanistan with a Navy chain of command conducting an independent (intelligence?) operation in the Afghan mountains and what do you know, the SEALS got lost and/or surrounded. Navy officers decided to launch a (secret?) rescue mission independently of the Army and Marines and the helicopter landed in front of a Taliban soldier with an RPG. Everyone involved in the mission including the rescue was killed.
