John Lewis fought for civil rights and was willing to give up his life for freedom and liberty. The election of a black man as President showed that his struggles for Civil Rights was not in vain

The premise is, what is your "hope." My hope, and please understand me when I say this. I disagree fervently with the people on our side of the aisle who have caved and who say, "Well, I hope he succeeds. We've got to give him a chance." Why? They didn't give Bush a chance in 2000. Before he was inaugurated the search-and-destroy mission had begun. I'm not talking about search-and-destroy, but I've been listening to Barack Obama for a year-and-a-half. I know what his politics are. I know what his plans are, as he has stated them. I don't want them to succeed.

If I wanted Obama to succeed, I'd be happy the Republicans have laid down. And I would be encouraging Republicans to lay down and support him. Look, what he's talking about is the absorption of as much of the private sector by the US government as possible, from the banking business, to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health care. I do not want the government in charge of all of these things. I don't want this to work. So I'm thinking of replying to the guy, "Okay, I'll send you a response, but I don't need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails." (interruption) What are you laughing at? See, here's the point. Obama did win the Nobel Peace Prize for winning the presidency in a country with a historic race problem. When Obama was born, much of the US would have lynched his father for marrying a white woman. That child rose to be President of the most powerful nation on earth Well worth a Nobel Prize

What peace did his election create?

I would have zero problem with Obumble being nominated for a Nobel Black Achievement-in-Politics Prize.

But, if you have not made peace, nor substantively influenced peace, at the time of your nomination, you do not deserve a prize devoted to peacemaking.

Yet no other black man in 200 years of history managed to do it before. Putting together a political coalition to get yourself elected to the most powerful job in the world is quite an accomplishment. Doing it when you are a mixed race man with a muslim name ? Even more so

Obumble was an empty suit with a touch of charisma, and his rock stardom and success was premeditated and artificially manufactured by the Democratic National Committee.

The DNC gave him the Keynote Address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. At a time when Kerry was almost certain to lose the DNC was already jockeying for position for the 2008 general election and they had the bright idea that after 8 years of neocon governance that folks would jump at the chance for something completely different, which might (and eventually did) include giving a Black Guy a shot at the title, as an acknowledgement of the large numbers of blacks and other minorities who could be counted upon to vote based upon race and as an acknowledgement of the large numbers of white Democrats who needed a new standard bearer to go up against the Pubs.

Oh, there's no doubt that Obama turned on the charisma and charm, and played both the age and race cards effectively, in the 2008 Democratic primary season, and that he did, indeed, do some serious fence-mending once that primary season was over, in order to create a more unified Democratic front in time for the general election, but a great deal of that was done for him by the Democratic National Committee and its State-level counterparts without a single word from Obumble.

And, let's face it, after 8 years of Shrub-and-Company, a one-legged street hooker could have won against the Pubs, and certainly against McSame. Disgust over the phony-baloney casus belli for the Iraq War, general war-weariness, and a sinking economy all worked in Obumble's favor as well. He was merely in the right place at the right time.

Your Failed Messiah was in over his head from Day One, and, six years later, still seems to flail-about in the deep end, much as he did on Day One.

All of which explain why so much of the country is desperately anticipating January 20, 2017.

Whomever takes the wheel after that, at least it won't be an empty suit with a manufactured stardom and a deficit of leadership and unifying qualities.

I am making two assumptions here...

1. you are black

2. I am white

If true, then, as unlikely as this may seem, given my employers and clients over the past couple of decades (inner city nonprofit social service agencies, in a technical support or management role), chances are excellent that I've done more over the past couple of decades in support of egalitarianism and poverty relief than you have.

I'm fairly well distanced from racism, in its stereotypical sense, and am utilizing sentiments that a great many of my own black friends and colleagues have articulated, in free and open conversations on the subject, across the span of a great many years.

And, neither any of that, nor your feedback here, does anything to distract from the idea that both Jackson and Sharpton are shameless Race Baiters, as my original input here suggested.
