I just looked at a couple of the emails. The two I looked at tell the tale (1) of a donor being incredibly petty and (2) a DNC staffer, Mark Paustenbach, being a supreme jerk who agreed to not share the content of a column before it was published, yet he sends that content to a colleague saying (paraphrased) "here's what I got from 'so and so' who gave it to me in advance of it being published provided I didn't share it. Take a look at it."

The pettiness...Okay, whatever. I have anything to say about that except, "Tsk, tsk, tsk. What a mess she is."

The second, however, I have a real problem with. Could he have been any more "junior high school" than that? "I'm not supposed to tell you this, but...." Really? I'm sorry, that just doesn't work for me. What part of "gave me his story ... before it goes to his editors as long as I didn't share it" suggests in even the slightest way that forwarding the whole damned thing to another person didn't constitute "sharing it?" WTH was in that man's mind? He's the Deputy Press Secretary for the DNC! Was he incapable of reading the article and replying with his own thoughts? He was asked for his thoughts. Hell, I'd fire his ass not just on principle, but also for being too damned inept to read a short article and respond with his thoughts about a matter of which he had to, by dint of his job, be well informed.

I am just glad I don't belong to either major party. The Dems got caught doing this crap. That distinguishes them, IMO, from the GOP only insofar as the Reps haven't yet been caught. I suspect, however, it's just a matter of time before some hacker finds his/her way into GOP email repositories.

Perhaps all of them should take a lesson from management consulting and public accounting: don't send stuff in email -- neither the firm's nor your own -- that you don't want found later. I wonder if in the wake of the recent email messes the USPS and wax seals will acquire renewed relevance?
