Disinformation is enemy #1.

OpenAI finds Russian and Chinese groups used its tech for propaganda campaigns

SAN FRANCISCO — ChatGPT maker OpenAI said Thursday that it caught groups from Russia, China, Iran and Israel using its technology to try to influence political discourse around the world, highlighting concerns that generative artificial intelligence is making it easier for state actors to run covert propaganda campaigns as the 2024 presidential election nears.

OpenAI removed accounts associated with well-known propaganda operations in Russia, China and Iran; an Israeli political campaign firm; and a previously unknown group originating in Russia that the company’s researchers dubbed “Bad Grammar.” The groups used OpenAI’s tech to write posts, translate them into various languages and build software that helped them automatically post to social media.

Putin didn't have AI at his disposal in 2016. His pro-Trump propaganda was low tech.

A Never-Ending Stream Of Disinformation

A year and half after Republicans captured the House majority, I’m still not sure it has sunk in how all-encompassing their effort has been to yoke the powers of the lower chamber to the Trump Republican Party’s 2024 electoral aims.

In particular, House Republicans have done a phenomenal job of taking advantage of the existing constructs and conceits of traditional journalistic outlets to peddle their disinformation campaign.

“Investigations,” “contempt of Congress,” and “impeachment” have been rolled out one after the other by the GOP House. We know the predictably slavish and uncritical amplification these efforts get in right-wing media. But more mainstream news outlets continue to be hobbled by their own institutional and competitive imperatives to cover these House machinations with the same breathless procedural myopia that they would bring to their news coverage if these were legitimate legislative efforts grounded in facts, evidence, and some modicum of good faith.

The House GOP keeps running the same tricks up the flagpole, and mainstream outlets continue to salute. The latest gambit is to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt for failing to turn over to Congress audio recordings of President Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur in his classified documents investigation.

Disinformation often translates to votes for Trump by the willfully misinformed. The cycle of lies spewed by him symbiotically reinforced by outlets like Faux. You remember Faux, they settled a lawsuit with Dominion for about 3/4 of a billion dollars for knowingly lying to their audience. A practice that continues in earnest to this day.

Why did you side with the insurrectionists and repeat the lie that Hunter's laptop was a "fantasy"?

What appears to be happening here is after the total collapse of the voter fraud narrative, right wing media needed to find another baseless fraud to foment among the minions in order to keep stringing them along. It is unacceptable after flogging the notion Trump actually won the election to admit that he didn't. So here comes the Hunter laptop fantasy. Providing The Following with another lunatic rationale to cling to so they can hold on to their perceived aggrievement.

I don't and I didn't. Don't you think it's about time you tried to prove your assertion? Oh wait.......you can't........never mind.

The White House is slamming the New York Post for pushing out a video on social media, and later a cover story, claiming that President Joe Biden wandered off as he and other world leaders watched a skydiving demonstration at the G7 summit in Italy.

The Post video came with the message, “President Biden appeared to wander off at the G7 summit in Italy, with officials needing to pull him back to focus.”

But White House spokesman Andrew Bates noted that the video that the Post shared was cropped, missing the context of what Biden was doing: Speaking and congratulating another skydiver as some of the other world leaders were observing a separate diver.

The minions need their red meat and the NYP practices just the kind of dishonest hackery that can provide it.

It's funny when Dems whine about media not sucking their dicks.
