I'm just wondering why more magnitude is given to this sin. And since priests are supposed to not be sexually active why should anyone even inquire about their sexual preference to begin with? It shouldn't even be an issue. I'm just trying to figure out where all of this hatred of gays comes from. I think that most people intuitively hate gays and religion is just an excuse to justify it.

i think becuase this particular sin is against the law.... but you could be onto something here maybe it shouldn't be given the separation of church and state.....priest are not suposed to have a sexual preference....no one hates gays i think you are manifesting a disaproval of a behavior with hatred....do you hate people that hate gays? being a no-beliver what excuse do you use to justify your behavior?

Do you think that being gay is more of a sin than other sins? Why is being a homosexual more of a sin than other sins that priests may commit? We all know that there is no such thing as a priest who is free of sin. So technically none of them should be priests since we shouldn't tolerate sin right?

Because atleast catholic priests make specific vows of chastity. Violating those vows is to violate their whole commission.

Also because they hurt children.

And last because these actions mock life.

But all priests are supposed to make vows of chastity so sexual orientation shouldn't matter. If a non practicing homosexual wants to become a priest what's the problem. Afterall isn't it the stance of catholics that a homosexual is in fact not sinning if he prohibits himself from doing homosexual acts? So if a gay man can refrain from any gay sexual activity he has committed no homosexual sins. So why can't he become a priest? The answer: bigotry.

biologically the point of male and female reproductive organs is to use them to reproduce....the point of your anus is to excrete waste.....to use them for other purposes is to mock the purpose of why they evolved to the present use.

Good question. Which is what I was wondering actually. The Catholic church claims it will no longer accept homosexuals into the priesthood. Since no priests are supposed to be sexually active then how in the hell do you know who is gay and who isn't. Not all gays are effeminate and not all effeminate people are gays.

If the homosexuals aren't having sex they aren't sinning right? So from a sexual standpoint they have done no more sinning than a heterosexual who is not sexually active. So you would be discriminating against them not on the basis of sin but on the basis of bigotry. How does this not make sense to you guys?
