Interesting. Later there was Betamax and Laserdisk as well.
All valuable steps, but passed by eventually.

Interestingly, it was George Eastman who thought films should be 70mm but Thomas Edison thought it wasteful and he had it reduced by Eastman to 35mm. Imagine so many old films in 70mm!
