Economists call Trump a liar.

It is worth mentioning that the main intended beneficiaries of Trump's tariffs are working-class Americans. The reaction of Democrats is therefore at odds with their often-professed love of "the working man." Or in HRC's language, "hard-working Americans."

The main victims of Trump’s tarrifs will be working -class.

"steep tariff rates" is a lie
Trump's reciprocal tariff rates are half the rates of what the other countries are charging us
It's amazing how these retards cry and freak out about tariffs when they sat around with their thumb up their ass the past 40 years as other countries stole our jobs and industries with their own tariffs and predatory trade practices. The enemies of the American worker are on full display.

Seems Trump used the words and studies to justify his tariffs and they are saying they did no such thing.

Not uncommon for Trump. He isn't too concerned over truth or accuracy, all he expects is for you to worship him.

The emails started hitting Anson Soderbery’s inbox at about 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday night. An economist at Purdue University, friends and acquaintances were reaching out to let him know that the Trump administration had just cited one of his papers as grounds for the steep tariff rates it would impose on America’s trade partners, which the president had unveiled on giant poster boards during a Rose Garden speech hours earlier.

A few of the notes jokingly congratulated him. But how did he really feel? “Confused,” Soderbery told Yahoo Finance. After all, he said, his study had been written to discourage exactly the kinds of policies Trump was rolling out. Certainly, nobody from the administration had consulted with him.

LefTard Logic:
“Tariffs only work for other nations when heavily imposed upon the United States…we must continue allowing the world to pound our ass while we look the other way like only faggot loving purple hair globalist nose-ringers would.”

When America Wins The Left Loses…Every Single Time

Depends if you get a good job in a new manufacturing plant or not.
Also depends if other countries want a trade war....or not.
Yeah. And if that ever happens it’ll be five -ten years from now

Again

If it ever happens… which is highly doubtful

What is it about Leftists that you don't know an opinion from a statement of fact? Are you stupid or what?

Opinions differ on what the results will be to Trump's tariff regime. He has been perfectly clear in what he is doing, and why.

Please specify Trump's "lie." Use quotation marks.

I won't hold my breath.
My response to the OP is "so what?" On any given thread on this board, people call him a lot worse than that. Meh?

but why aren't the tariffs that other countries are charging us "dangerous"

Until yesterday, the foreign tariffs weren't across the board. To give you an example, Canada placed a 15% tariff on dairy goods. The US had huge conglomerates that did the job well below what Canada could do. This is a healthy Tariff that really didn't stop the US Diary Products from being sold in Canada. Just the price was closer to what the domestics could be done.

There are quite a bit of other examples but one is enough.

Now about the Steel and Aluminum products from overseas versus the rest of the world. For quite some time, steel coming in from asia was subpar and could not be used for certain industrial applications like Sky Scraper Beams. In this case, a tariff wasn't used. Building codes were used. Now a bit of history. At the end of WWII, the US helped to setup Germany and Japan in brand new Steel Manufacturing plants. Meanwhile, the US plants were old and out dated. Tariffs were in order allowing the US to catch up. Right after they catch up was done, the steel from overseas was subpar for high tensile building like long span bridges. Until the overseas caught back up, tariffs and building were in order.

Now, what happens when a country over produces a cheaper product? It tries to dump it into other countries. The US ended up placing Tariffs on cheap steal that china was dumping here.

Now when is a tariff bad? When so little forethought is given that it's placed on items it's not necessary or is harmful to commerce. The Orange Cheeto is doing broad sweeping Tariffs much like the harmful tariffs that the Hoover bunch did in 1926 which had a huge impact in moving a recession to a depression.
