if you go to airliner forums, they have a lot of information on flights/etc
..they have the flight details/etc...some say they did not divert to land because their destination was closer

Good

Sad situation. Not diverting the flight and not having medical instruments in working condition, the airlines will never allow this one to go in front of a jury.

Happened in 2016...

She died three days after the flight landed of a lung blood clot. How did the airline cause that?
Pressure changes and they ignored her complaints! A person can develop cuts during long flights and the crew knows this!

She came to soon after, but when she later collapsed in the plane's lavatory, a doctor on board who'd been helping her told the flight crew they needed to land quickly, to get her the proper medical treatment.
American Airlines Flight 102 was about an hour and a half from Dallas-Fort Worth, its destination. Despite the doctor's warning, the crew stayed the course while the doctor and flight attendants tried to treat Brittany, who was 25 years old at the time. She was taken to a hospital immediately upon landing, but died three days later.

They are gonna pay big bucks!

Person dies in 2016, lawsuit in 2018...???

Imagine lawyer convinced family that it was now or never.

Statute of Limitations varies from state-to-state. In Texas it is 2 years after the date of the person's death. Copy of lawsuit I saw was filed in South Carolina 2 years to the date of passenger's death. (In South Carolina the statute states 3 years.)

I just read novel The Rooster Bar about three law student friends practicing law without a license. A situation about wrongful death arose in which the date of filing was missed by a few days.

IF she died three DAYS AFTER the flight what's there to dirvert?

Any jury consisting of folks with even half a brain will understand the importance of immediate medical attention when the situation calls for it. Story states they were above Albuquerque and decided to travel on another 90 minutes to Texas.

A lot of the medical equipment on the plane wasn't working and the doctor on the flight attending her notified the flight crew that they needed to divert ASAP and the flight crew elected not to.
