Being a folk singer was never an easy gig. But these days it's not just tough. If you're an aspiring folk singer in Afghanistan you might want to consider a different career path. It's a dying profession:

"Taliban fighters have shot dead an Afghan folk singer after it outlawed music and women’s voices on television and radio in the bellwether province of Kandahar, laying the ground for a nationwide ban in an echo of the brutal Islamist regime of 20 years ago."

"Fawad Andarabi was dragged from his home and shot in the head in the village of Andarab, north of Kabul on Friday, his family said. The murder has provoked an outcry and fuelled fears of a return to the repressive regime of the 1990s since Taliban fighters overran Kabul two weeks ago."

And that business about no women's voices on radio and TV.....well given how American Karens have taken over "our" news....they MAY have a point.

But one should not be overly concerned. Surely it can't happen here. Just as the fall of Saigon could never happen again.

If courage exists there it too took this moment to flee.

Air support was at least 75% of that war's effectiveness!
Take that away, and all that is left is canon fodder. The Afghanistan Army knew that but, why didn't our all knowing Generals and leaders NOT KNOW THIS!!

The Afghan people should fight back.
Fight what?
Those people have been fighting for thousands of years.
They went to war against the Mongols of Mongolia.
They went to war against the Russians from Chechnya.
They went to war against the Russians from Moscow and the Soviet Union.
They went to war against USA.
They go to war tribe against tribe.
All they know is war.
Bring our soldiers back home and let them Afghan people kill each other in Afghanistan.
I thought Biden was smart.
I guess not.
He is too old to be president.
Put Trump back.
And I'm a Democrat and not a Republican.
Biden got 13 Americans killed who were left alone without protection to protect the airport against Taliban.

This is, indeed terrible, but I honestly don't trust the Royal Institute of International Affairs any more than I trust the propaganda coming out of the Council.

This is their nation, and their rules now. I have no idea if this guy was just a folks singer, or also a political dissident. . maybe he worked for the ISI. Who the hell knows?

What I do know, is this is clearly a piece of British propaganda meant to stir the feelings of the western public toward more war for the war profiteers in a place that is none of our business. .

If there were more pertinent facts to the story on the side of the Taliban keeping and maintaining control, and putting an end to international terrorism in their nation, you can be sure, western media won't be reporting it, and will just be spinning it as if they are a brutal regime.

Don't forget, " it's the singer, not the song." Rolling Stones

The Taliban never had air support and yet they could fight effectively when it mattered. Through it all the US had to back the Afghan military up at every turn. We had to provide them with intelligence, maintain their equipment, pay them and even fight for them when the shit got rough. After all our sacrifices and expense we ended up with a totally ineffectual fighting force. You're saying we shouldn't feel short changed?

The Dixie Chicks just called, and said you should STFU.

Taliban always made sure that they had the high ground. Only air support could put a dent in them.
Obviously you never checked out the terrain in Afghanistan.

Agreed.

I thought Biden was smart.
I guess not. He is too old to be president.

He's certainly fulfilling his role of ushering in Marxism. He's certainly useful to someone. Whomever it is giving him his marching orders. Apparently one doesn't have to be smart to follow direction. Heck, we're moving into straight fascism in many regards.

What's that say about the American electorate to sit back and allow a stupid guy to usher in fascism without so much as a huff.

Put Trump back.

I'd rather have a Rand Paul or a Thomas Massie type. I'm tired of Keynesians.

I'm a Democrat and not a Republican.

Very rarely is there a nickel's worth of difference between either at the higher levels of government. You'd be better off not associating with either side of the party-of-one. But that's your business.

Yeah. Pretty much.

Folk singer is a poor description. John Denver was a folk singer. This guy was apparently a traditional musician from his home country. The first thing socialist anarchist terrorists, domestic or foreign. do is to try to eliminate tradition and replace it with the brave new world of (mostly) socialism and (mostly) anti-American values. American lefties have been in a war with Christmas for half a century and that's why they are ripping statues down in the U.S.
