No, this really is NOTHING like GM at all, not even in the same ballpark.

The difference between Ford and GM is, Ford has recalls before a dozen or so people are killed by the flaw.

I've heard up to 100 people have DIED over GM recall. Not sure the exact total

but hey don't let that fact get the way

GM is still pretty much alone. They've had 66 recalls this year = 29 million vehicles.
