I think you mean the "Sea Ice Extent" which has been increasing due to increased Continental Ice melt which pushes ice out further into the ocean, and floods the ocean with more fresh water.

Antarctica has lost ice just like Greenland has.

At a slower pace than the Arctic Sea ice.

Also, what does Antarctica have to do with Global Warming? It has several unique conditions that has put it 10-20 years behind the rest of the Earth, it is so isolated, that the CO2 levels in Antarctica are what they were in 1980s for the rest of the Earth.

Obviously you didn't bother to read any of the articles and views of a coming ice age from scientists as I just posted over 50 links not even 15 minutes prior to your response. Yes there were scientists experts who pondered another ice age approaching, they feared smog could even be linked to another coming ice age among other concerns. I have heard all these "doomsday" messages before, and you are as foolish (and no different) as those who were so certain of their position back in the 70s.

It's only the parts of the GW theory about accelerations and positive feedbacks and RUNAWAY warming that ever made it an issue in the 1st place. And NONE of those things are "settled science". And NONE of those things have yet been observed or measured.

There's desperation in the AGW ranks. Models have crashed. Scary estimates constantly revised downward -- but still the faithful cling on as THO --- the planet will destroy itself if we reach a magic 2deg trigger threshold..

Because with ALL the proxy studies -- the TIME RESOLUTION of those studies is no better than 300 or 500 years for the longer charts. And on the HIGH RES versions of those studies -- you can see MORE variation than we are CURRENTLY experiencing as "natural variation" and MAYBE get a fraction of a 100 year event. Our little 80 year event would hardly show up in a "proxy study" a thousand years from now.

There were mass extinctions even in Holocene for climate events. Like the "arctic reversal" (look it up). THat was BEFORE CO2 became the magic single variable that governs this complex climate system..

There was no where near a consensus on an ice age in 1970s.

Liberals do call it Global Warming today. Climate Change is natural, Global Warming is not. They are well defined.

Just because the past has a cause doesn't mean the present causes are the same.

Arctic ice is very cyclical.. Very little of it more than 6 years old. It could all be replace in a decade.

But the bigger is --- the 0.6degC rise in YOUR lifetime hasn't caused ANY of those things yet. And if the current OBSERVED rate of warming were to continue as it is to 2100 --- there would be NO STORY.

It's only the parts of the GW theory about accelerations and positive feedbacks and RUNAWAY warming that ever made it an issue in the 1st place. And NONE of those things are "settled science". And NONE of those things have yet been observed or measured.

There's desperation in the AGW ranks. Models have crashed. Scary estimates constantly revised downward -- but still the faithful cling on as THO --- the planet will destroy itself if we reach a magic 2deg trigger threshold..

I think you need to explain your theory why 75% of the Arctic ice is now gone...that's "cyclical"? We aren't talking about age of the ice (which has become increasingly younger due to more old ice being melted than before)....we are talking about TOTAL volume/mass of the ice compared to 1970s.

75% of what? The summer peak melt? All the markers are within 2 sigma of the mean for the past 30 or 40 years.

Ice has been melting on this planet since the glaciers retreated. Even without the additional 0.6degC in your lifetime --- it would have a NEGATIVE rate to Arctic Sea ice. Same with the glaciers.

Do you want to live in a period where glaciers are ADVANCING and Arctic Ice starts filling up the Great Lakes?

They are within 2 sigma of the mean? Are you talking about "sea ice extent"? Because the ice is now THINNER too. 9year old + ice typically is 30 feet thick. 1 year old ice is typically 2-3 feet thick.

I think you're looking at the wrong figure and looking at sea ice extent which is 2dimensional thinking.

We can handle an ice age a lot better than we can handle a PETM.

For whatever reason, the onset of the ice ages about 800,000 years ago did not cause mass extinctions.

The PETM did...and what's happening now is 20x faster than the PETM.

Here's a fact.. NOBODY and i mean NOBODY has a fucking clue "how fast" anything happened back in the PETM or even 200 years ago. Because with ALL the proxy studies -- the TIME RESOLUTION of those studies is no better than 300 or 500 years for the longer charts. And on the HIGH RES versions of those studies -- you can see MORE variation than we are CURRENTLY experiencing as "natural variation" and MAYBE get a fraction of a 100 year event. Our little 80 year event would hardly show up in a "proxy study" a thousand years from now.

There were mass extinctions even in Holocene for climate events. Like the "arctic reversal" (look it up). THat was BEFORE CO2 became the magic single variable that governs this complex climate system..

Now you're just blowing smoke. The Time Resolution on the PETM event is quite acceptable for making the claim what we are doing now is MUCH MUCH faster.

Antarctica has lost ice just like Greenland has.

At a slower pace than the Arctic Sea ice.

Also, what does Antarctica have to do with Global Warming? It has several unique conditions that has put it 10-20 years behind the rest of the Earth, it is so isolated, that the CO2 levels in Antarctica are what they were in 1980s for the rest of the Earth.

You didn't quote a single Climate Scientist from the time, because none of them thought another Ice Age was coming.

Obviously you didn't bother to read any of the articles and views of a coming ice age from scientists, as I just posted over 50 links not even 15 minutes prior to your response. Yes there were scientists experts who pondered another ice age approaching, they feared smog could even be linked to another coming ice age among other concerns. I have heard all these "doomsday" messages before, and you are as foolish (and no different) as those who were so certain of their position back in the 70s.

By the way, where is all this costal doomsday flooding global warming [so called] experts love to predict among their climate fear factors?

The ones I click on were mere newspaper articles with prediction of 1000 to 5000 years in the future. How many of them were peer reviewed scientific papers?

Don't most scientist agree that the major effects of a warmer earth will not be felt till the later half of this century?

Geological cycles have been happening for millenias. They do weird stuff when other celestial bodies are tugging on them.

You'd think that supposed right-wingers who call themselves Christians (I'm very critical of them I think of them as Pharisees) would see the obvious parallels with Revelation that Global Warming offers them. Instead they reject it because they think God wouldn't do that to them?

Let's look at the obvious:

Global Warming will cause:

1) Famine - decreased plant productivity as CO2 ppm rises, desertification, soil acidification, Ocean acidification and loss of biomass in the oceans, etc.

2) Pestilence - already disease carrying Mosquitos are making a come-back in areas like southern US and Europe where such insects lost their old habitats, the swamps due to Human draining of the land. Bugs will crawl across a warmer earth to devour crops.

3) Plague - diseases unable to live farther north now infest farther north especially in the oceans there are famous studies of diseases of the sea that have pushed as far north as Alaska. Zika is another example. There's strong evidence that Ebola is seasonal due to humidity/temperature conditions which is why it doesn't spread into the arid zones etc. Disease will follow Global Warming's advance.

4) War - mass migrations of people as lower latitudes become unliveable will lead to inevitable war, always has in the past. Imagine 1 Billion Muslims on the brink of survival fleeing an uninhabitable North Africa and Eurasian plain.

Furthermore, the Bible says that HUMANS are the Stewards of the Earth. Not God.

So in every way Christianity supports the idea that humanity can and does alter the Earth's climate.

In conclusion: Any real Christian would support Global Warming as evidence of the end times. The great Tribulation. It's timed correctly. Jesus Christ is supposed to return, look for him in the House of the Water Bearer, may be a reference to the procession of the Equinox and we are entering the age of Aquarius now.

What better way to convince the world to elect the Anti-Christ than global warming caused mass chaos?

Will this happen in a decade? No....no.

But 100 years from now things could be so bad that indeed the end times will be upon us.

To throw in a little more controversial smack, I think you have to be a buffoon to deny Global Warming, it's so obvious that 75% of the Arctic Sea ice has melted (per mass of total sea ice), and denying Global Warming is like the buffoons of Hy Brasil singing on roof tops as they sink into the sea.

The evidence is overwhelming that by denying Global Warming, these "right-wing Christians" are really cultists, who do not believe in the Bible or God or Christ, but rather are Satanic Parodies, who run around giving real Christians a bad name to the rest of the world that isn't so blind as to be unable to see the effects of Global Warming that are happening...

3) Plague - diseases unable to live farther north now infest farther north especially in the oceans there are famous studies of diseases of the sea that have pushed as far north as Alaska. Zika is another example. There's strong evidence that Ebola is seasonal due to humidity/temperature conditions which is why it doesn't spread into the arid zones etc. Disease will follow Global Warming's advance.

4) War - mass migrations of people as lower latitudes become unliveable will lead to inevitable war, always has in the past. Imagine 1 Billion Muslims on the brink of survival fleeing an uninhabitable North Africa and Eurasian plain.

Furthermore, the Bible says that HUMANS are the Stewards of the Earth. Not God.

So in every way Christianity supports the idea that humanity can and does alter the Earth's climate.

In conclusion: Any real Christian would support Global Warming as evidence of the end times. The great Tribulation. It's timed correctly. I think you mean the "Sea Ice Extent" which has been increasing due to increased Continental Ice melt which pushes ice out further into the ocean, and floods the ocean with more fresh water.

Antarctica has lost ice just like Greenland has.

At a slower pace than the Arctic Sea ice.

Also, what does Antarctica have to do with Global Warming? It has several unique conditions that has put it 10-20 years behind the rest of the Earth, it is so isolated, that the CO2 levels in Antarctica are what they were in 1980s for the rest of the Earth.
