Global Warming (Assuming It's Happening) is a Blessing From God

Why does i

Why does it have to be government that sets these standards? Government doesn't do anything efficiently. For home standards, have private accrediting agencies (that don't get unlimited funding like the damn government), and have no incentive to push an agenda.
Wrong….the govt is much more efficient than for profit entities. Private industry never builds roads and infrastructure or provides HC as cheaply as govt funded
Medicare or infrastructure programs, you’re dreaming,

It's true that only government can do a few jobs, but any time a private company can do the same job, it always does it better. The reason is it's somebody's money. No incentive to waste. In government, they don't consider it anybody's money, so they aren't careful with it.

Trump deliberately caused petroleum prices to skyrocket, by blackmailing the Saudis into a massive production cut. Then he bragged about doing it.

When you're at the pump and shocked at prices, remember that Trump did that. And that he's laughing at what suckers his followers are. He took their money, and it made them love him more.
The gop is the epitome of mismanagement whose primary goal is to appease their donors while fking the public.

Wrong, totally. If they were, they would be falling all over each other to privately fund infrastructure packages.
The number one goal of private enterprise is profit….not serving the public good. The govt funding programs jump through more hoops to protect the public goid, that private industry has no interest in. Nada, nix, never.
And I have proof. Where are they building roads and bridge and priding HC as cheaply the govt ?

Who does the accrediting? ... how expensive are they to bribe? ... do you want chicken plant owners setting safety standards? ...

We the People set the standards ... and enforcement will never be efficient with our current Constitution ... the 5th Amendment is REALLY expensive ... I'm surprised you don't know there is a well entrenched private agency system that do home inspections ... typically a few hundred dollars each ... one of the best values around ... to wit:

A good example of letting industry regulate themselves ... million dollar homes and the builder is pulling this shit ... with government approval ... the AzROC is fully compliant with builders' maximizing profits ... at tax-payer expense ... Republicans ...

Well said ... I have an example of parallel roads here locally ... the public road and bridges that winds up into the forest ... and fifty feet away is the private logging company's road and bridges up into the same forest ... weight limit on public roads is 34 tons, there is no limit on the private road ... I'm guessing twenty miles ...

It's a private road in that there are "No Trespassing" signs posted and local police will ticket folks for driving down the logging company's road ... it's strictly for logging trucks and really unsafe for the general public ... 75 ton logging trucks rolling 75 mph in twisty turnny mountain goatpathes ... [ka'ching] ... I assume it was profitable while the forest was open to harvest ... hasn't been used in thirty years now so it's all overgrown and broken up ...

I'm always a "free market first" kind of guy ... but build those walls on a solid honest floor ... if employers didn't have to pay for their employee's injuries, employers wouldn't bother with worksite safety ... too expensive ... just throw the dead body aside until after the shift and I'll find another worker ... laissez-faire doesn't allow for Worker's Compensation Insurance ... too expensive ...

We want government to set the 'floor', minimum standards to conduct business in the USA ...

Do you think companies should be allowed to steal and murder to maintain profits, and by extension share prices ... just look at your local hospital to see profit before people ... never mind the Texas electric grid, using maintenance money to support dividend payments ... how many dead February 2021? ... yeah, profit before people works great ... no need for We the People to interfere ...

You don't want rules requiring nails ... instead of staples ... to build homes? ... what next, no sheer? ... the trucking industry makes more profit without silly stupid things like brakes and rest time ... right? ... God forbid we regulate that ...
I say let the gubermint run it all. What could possibly go wrong?

And school cafeterias.

Hateful parents not feeding their children ... California now has to feed ALL the school children both breakfast and lunch ... we should let the children starve to death if the parents refuse to feed them ...

That's definitely something government does poorly ... parenting ...

Gubermint cheese for everyone!!!

It's like Home Inspection Services. They're not governmental services. A team of professionals gets together and decided what the standards should be. Are you worried about them being corrupted or bribed? Also, what makes you think the government is above corruption and having an agenda? We see it all the time in the grant process. Any academic whose investigations say MMGW is a farce...bye bye grant money.

Have you ever held an Inspector's License? ... I've had a Contractor's License in the past ... in both cases, all government does is make sure the Licensee is carrying the appropriate insurance coverage ...

The insurance industry sets the standards in construction ... every one of them ... builders are constantly trying to evade the restrictions, for better profit ... I've worked in the industry my whole career ... never trust a construction contractor unless they DESERVE your trust ... I know how to do that, and it means less profit ... everytime ...

Let's start with food ... can we sell anything as food, whether it is or not ... let the customer beware ... or should we have something like the Pure Food and Drug Act ... one is capitalism, the other complete socialism ... stealing your rights to sell food made of plastic garbage ...

This is what happens if we let for-profit corporations deal with product safety:

Which works best for you ... insurance premiums ... or government taxes ... either way, you pay the price ...

we should let the children starve to death if the parents refuse to feed them ...
I hate to have to ask you, but are you being serious here or sarcastic?
That's definitely something government does poorly ... parenting ...
Feeding children in cafeterias is not parenting. And it's not being done by government. It's funded by government but done by poorly paid lunch ladies.

As I said, there are certain jobs the private sector can't do. Infrastructure is probably one of them. But as I also said in any area in which the private sector can compete, it always beats the government. Government isn't about protecting the common good. Government is about rewarding political donors and spending lots of taxpayer money without a thought of frugality. There is NO incentive for a government agency to spend less money. Doing so simply causes their allocation to be cut. I learned this from a

I made my money in the real estate industry like Donald Trump did.

The government does not deal with reality as much as an ideology. Are you familiar with the ban on CFCs in 1987 from refrigerants? We weren't allowed to release them into the atmosphere starting then. The claim was they depleted the ozone layer and caused the ozone hole. That's was shown to be a complete hoax, but the damn government got its way and caused billions of dollars to be lost by having to recapture freon.

Some many green government predictions never materialize, and yet business is handcuffed by these ridiculous claims and predictions. So yeah, I trust industry professionals to make the call before I will Marxist government ideologues.

The private sector is geared toward making money. The public sector is geared toward providing services. The public always does a better job in areas where private refuses to participate, simpley because they can’t make a profit. For some strange idea, anti govt peoples think it cost more for non profits than for profits. Look at the USPS and UPS. Ups flat refuses service out side their areas where the USPS is obligated to provide delivery to nearly all areas…does it cost more to provide services on an equal bases…..even when the economics are working against you ? Of course. But it’s NOT because the fed is poorly managed, it’s because their mission is different.

Right ... as a real estate professional, like Donald Trump ... you're the problem ... of course you don't what government oversight, thief, that would cut your illegal profit now wouldn't it? ... how many times did you fib to customers? ... how many times did you short-change your contractors ... hey stupid ... Donald Trump LIED to get his wealth ... that makes you and him LIARS ...

You're providing the Heritage Institute as a scientific reference ... too funny ... Bubba didn't finish Middle School ...

Dude ... I stopped contracting with flakes like you way early in my career ... too much of a hassle getting paid, fucking thieves ...

As a practicing Catholic, I paid all my bills and never lied to tenants or anyone else. I have encountered a few crooked contractors, but steered away from them because I did due diligence on them, and because I had a network of great honest contractors who recommended others like themselves. When you behave a certain way, good or bad, you attract others who behave like you. That's something I've noticed throughout my career.

As a practicing Catholic ... then ... you know you lie to yourself ... starting with violation of building code ... those are enacted as law, therefore they ARE the law ... are Catholics allowed to violate civil laws? ... better to say "I ran an honest business" ... with honest profits ... I know how that's done ...

How would you protect the average homeowner ... someone who doesn't have a network of honest contractors? ... or would you rather they go without protection, more honest profit for you ... for example, by voting against gay rights in housing, you trap all your gay tenants, none one else will rent to them ... more honest profit? ... I did this exact thing with house cats, one and all, Krazy Kat Lady is trapped, no one will rent to someone with 6 cats ... [ka'ching] ...

I laughed when I wrote the insurance check right after the 9/11 attack ... I'm sure you remember THAT particular premium notice ... my agent was shocked, how could I be happy with such terrible news ... simple ... I double the added cost, divide by 12 then divide by the number of rentals ... and raise rents accordingly ... doesn't cost me a penny ... 100% margins are honest, right? ...

=====

Donald Trump fully admits reporting inflated values to credit-issuing agencies ... claiming free speech rights if the credit-issuing authority doesn't whine or complain ... no victim, no crime ... but under any Christian belief, it's lying, including the KKK and Nazis ... just saying ... comparing your honestly to DJT is, you know, questionable ...
