"But the Republican boast was never really meant to nail the balloting results. Instead, it was a clever blend of hype and hope served up to major donors about what could follow the election: For GOP benefactors in New York, Washington and beyond who’re past tired of self-destructive antics by Republicans reactionaries, the party tailored the push to conjure the dream of a reinvigorated Speaker John Boehner. Given the room, he could stiff-arm the tiny, troublesome right flank that nearly pitched the country into a debt default three years ago and generally made major headaches out of otherwise simple chores. One Republican operative spells out the subtext of the pitch to the corporate pragmatists the GOP is hitting up for campaign cash: “We want to give Boehner a governable majority so the crazies you hate will be irrelevant.”

"John Boehner wants big business to come to the rescue and neutralize the nutty members of the House that have held him hostage."

Sounds like he's talking about the commies on the left that want government to run everything.

Yes because we all know Forbes is a commie magazine

They don't talk about the left?

Republicans should have learned their lesson in the eighties when they invited the religious right to the party and became embroiled in a bunch of social issue distractions they formerly had no interest in.

We're in the process of deStarkifying the Republican Party. Boehner, Rove and Starkey are getting marginalized. It's only natural, they're doing it to themselves by being Dems and Obama Fluffers

Can you support that?

Certainly, Jerry Falwell and his moral majority theocrats, certainly stirred up some votes which helped in the short term but in the long term has served to make the republicans spend their political capital fighting social issues and probably cost them a future among younger voters.

They have made the same mistake again letting the political crazies in the tent, sure they won some seats but at the cost of party unity.

They're crazy because you disagree with them. So to you, the only real hope Republicans have, because you care so deeply about them, is to abandon all moral issues. Religious conservatives aren't going to join the Democrats in their current form so it isn't a matter of letting them in, it's where they go.

But this is old recycled leftwing bs, they always play up any division on the right while complaining there's no diversity on the right.

GOP Civil War Gets Ugly..

The polls will spit out some really ugly numbers if the conservative Justices don't step up to the plate to at least give traditional marriage/protection of adoptable orphans a fair day in court before their little "legislation/sedition via marriage attrition" limbo trick pisses off millions of middle voters who voted in marriage definitions in their state FOR A REASON.

At the very least the GOP could be looking at some signficant "voter apathy" and low poll turnouts in a couple of weeks. Why vote for some asshole who is going to support gay marriage by attrition? Why bother? No candidate is worth voting for when all of them are willing to place children at risk. Adoption agencies will be sued next. And then they'll HAVE to adopt that little boy to that lisping gay male couple she just saw dry humping in front of kids the day before at a gay pride parade.

If politicians can do that, there's no point in voting...

They are crazy because they are obsessed with destroying social programs without a thought as to what might happen or how to deal with the consequences (more militarized cops and prisons do not count).

The left is crazy because they are obsessed with adding social programs without consideration of the consequences and demonize anyone that stands for fiscal responsibility.
