America has the worst legal system in the world. The state legally bribes the judge, jury, witnesses, and defense attorney and now this. People get framed all the time.

Government Chemist Tampered With 40,000 Cases, Locking Countless Innocent Americans in Prison | Filming Cops

MASSACHUSETTS — In a maddening scandal that is rocking the state of Massachusetts, a government crime lab chemist has been caught intentionally forging signatures and tampering with evidence in as many as 40,000 cases, destroying the lives of countless innocent Americans.

Annie Dookhan worked as a chemist for the State of Massachusetts, and it turns out she had close relations with prosecutors.

These prosecutors were able to successfully convict innocent Americans because Dookhan would chemically taint the “evidence,” resulting in career boosts for the prosecutors while innocent men and women were torn from their families and locked in cells.

Prosecutors praised Dookhan’s work and depended on her to get the convictions they wanted.

Hundreds of “convicts” and defendents have already been released, and there are potentially thousands more waiting to be set free.

Dookhan used her position to forge results for nearly a decade.

Lets just let mobs decide, shall we?

Even if these people are guilty, they should go free as you can't be tried for the same crime twice...so you could have hundreds of potential killers walking free...

People get tried twice for the same crime all the time. If your case ends in a hung jury, there is often another trial. Or if your conviction is thrown out on appeal, you usually get tried again.

It doesn't work that way. Not everyone will be released just because she processed the evidence. There will be a review. The chemical evidence will be excluded. If the conviction would stand without that evidence there will be no release. There might be some cases in which she didn't tamper with the evidence. No release there either. Some guilty will certainly go free. They will shortly reoffend and be right back behind bars.

Who decides if the conviction would stand without the chemical evidence? If the trial was by jury, then shouldn't another jury make that decision?

Judges and DAs. Every case will have to be reviewed now. Essentially a tax dollar nightmare. She needs to be in a dark hole for a looooooooong time.

In the scandal of crime lab technician Deborah Madden here in the Bay Area, I remember just about any case she or the lab were currently working on was thrown out when Madden was arrested for stealing cocaine from lab samples. I'm not sure what happened with those who were convicted due to evidence handled by that lab before the arrest.

Dozens of S.F. drug cases dropped as police investigate crime lab supervisor from San Mateo - San Jose Mercury News

The new investigation has thrown the status of both new and old drug cases into question. Defense attorneys can now potentially call the validity of any drug evidence analyzed by the lab into question.

"Because the chain of custody has been jeopardized, the drug evidence is inadmissible," Deputy Public Defender Kleigh Hathaway said today.
