Confusion: Biden offers sympathy for the ā€˜tragic events in Houston today and also in Michiganā€™

Former Vice President Joe Biden misstated the locations of mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, while speaking to donors at a high-dollar fundraiser in San Diego on Sunday night.

Biden, 76, mistakenly referred to the shootings as ā€œthe tragic events in Houston today and also in Michigan the day before," but later corrected himself, according to a pool report. Biden seemingly confused Houston for El Paso and Michigan for Ohio when speaking to donors about the shootings.

The fundraiser for his presidential campaign took place at the home of businessman Mark Arabo, who is an advocate for persecuted Iraqi Christians. Around 75 attendees at the fundraiser received a three-course meal before the vice president's remarks, and listened to Biden speak in a marble-tiled living area with two chandeliers as they sat in rows of white chairs.

Sunday was not the first time that Biden mixed up names on the 2020 campaign trail. In May, Biden confused former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who left office in 1990, with then-Prime Minister Theresa May.

ā€œYou know what, the presidentā€™s words have meaning, no matter who he or she is. They are the face of America,ā€ Biden said at the Sunday fundraiser. He added that he does not hold President Trump personally responsible for the shooting, but noted that he has influence on the country.

Biden reportedly also mentioned Trump referring to people crossing the southern border as animals. Politifact in April found that a viral tweet claiming that Trump called all asylum-seekers animals was false. Trump was referring to MS-13 gang members when he said, "These aren't people. These are animals."

It happens. Has happened to Biden in the past. Happened to Hillary. Happened to Obama. And with all the media exposure President Trump has, there's just going to be one of those now and then.

The difference is, President Trump is pretty careful not to misquote people or put words in their mouths they didn't say such as you illustrated in the OP. The hateful left does that to him all the time, and even when the misquote is pointed out to them, they keep saying it. Which means it is not inadvertent but intentional.

But oh well. We'll either have four more years of success or throw it away in 2020 just for the satisfaction of beating Donald J. Trump. And that's a really sad commentary on America.

Yes. Especially since the Russia thing blew up on them, they are back to screaming RACIST--the President is a RACIST--every other sentence until they can figure out something else that they think works better for them.

I agree we all have those "what the fuck" moments. The average person just doesn't have the world scrutinizing their words 24/7. I think that's why most past Presidents stay relatively silent for a while. You've spent a couple of years campaigning. Then you spend 4-8 years with a camera shoved in your face all day long. After that you've just had it. I think Bill secretly hoped Hillary would lose. He doesn't want that shit again.

Maybe. :) But no, I think Bill very much wanted Hillary to win for HIS sake, not hers. He very much wanted to be back into the limelight with all the access and perks that come with it. I don't think there is any love lost between him and Hillary though just reading their body language over the years. And so the other side of the coin could be that if he has as much resentment re her as I suspect he might have, he might have taken just a wee bit of satisfaction in seeing her lose.

But that's silly almost malicious gossip and should not be taken seriously by anybody. Just a wee bit of wondering about how the story would be written if somebody writes it down. :)

But yes, the most horrible part about message boarding is that you see later, after it is too late to edit, the stupid thing you said. And you just hope nobody saw it or you hope they understood it for the unintentional misspeak that it was. :)
